 Percussionist/composer/bandleader SAMUEL TORRES has performed, arranged, produced and/or recorded with a “who’s who” of the jazz, Latin pop and classical worlds, including Tito Puente, Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D’Rivera, Yo-Yo Ma, Chick Corea, Alejandro Sanz, Ricky Martin, Richard Bona, Lila Downs, Angelique Kidjo, Marc Anthony, Rubén Blades, Cecile McLorin Salvant, and his country’s own international superstar, Shakira. He has been featured as a composer and soloist with classical orchestras such as Berlin Symphoniker, City of London Sinfonia, Cuban National Symphony, The Bogotá Philharmonic, Medellín Philharmonic, and The Cali Philharmonic. In 2019 Torres won the Latin Grammy Award for the Best Classical Record with his album ‘Regreso’ a concerto for congas and symphony orchestra. He is a three-time recipient of the New Jazz Works Grant by Chamber Music America and received 2nd place at the Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition in 2000.  With TRIO LIBRE, Torres seeks sounds of intimacy over expansion, deliberately focusing on the exposed texture created by piano, vibraphone, and congas. This special combination of instruments brings us into a delicate musical conversation. Torres elaborates, “The exposed ensemble setting mirrors the emotional landscape of the central suite, We the People, which I conceived during a period of personal uncertainty, mainly due to current sociopolitical factors.”
The compositions on Trio Libre reflect Torres feelings about the vulnerability inherent in our times, balanced by the powerful discovery of solidarity and strength found within our communities, musical and otherwise.

 SANS VOX is a new quintet from bassist and songwriter CHRIS MORRISSEY. As the name implies, this is a departure from his role as a frontman and singer, a well-established identity in these ‘20s with four full-length records on GroundUP Music and many tours with his longtime band to show for it. Departure, yes - but also a return to a musical entry point, recalling the acoustic instrumental music of his debut recordings for Sunnyside “The Morning World” and “North Hero”. Recalling, but not repeating. Sans Vox is old and new friends playing new and less new music.
In addition to Chris Morrissey’s life as a bandleader, he has also toured and recorded with some of music’s most respected names: Norah Jones, Mark Guiliana, Nate Smith, Gretchen Parlato, Dave King Trucking Company, Chris Thile, Margaret Glaspy, Trixie Whitley, Sara Bareilles, Boy George and many others.

Jonathan Paik is a Brooklyn-based pianist, keyboardist, and improvisor/composer. He is the founder and leader of the firespitting quartet FUGITIVE, one-half of electronic duo BUSBOY, and a regular member of Alfredo Colon’s quintet, Victor Solano’s SUNDATE, and Jahnvi Madan’s quartet. His playing has also been heard with the likes of David Binney, Joe Morris, Charles Altura, and Charles Downs. He plays to honor his lineages, both his Korean American heritage and the great tradition of Black American piano masters, and to unconditionally lift up the music and people around him. Jonathan has been named a Jazz Gallery Residency Commission Artist for 2026.

JULIETA EUGENIO released her debut album, “Jump”, in 2021 on Dave Douglas’ Greenleaf Music label and went on to win the 2022 DCJazzPrix, an international competition presented by the DC Jazz Fest. Her next album, “Stay”, received four-star reviews in Downbeat and All About Jazz and was presented at Dizzy’s Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Summer Stage, Smalls Jazz Club, in California and during her second European tour. Last year, she was nominated by the Jazz Music Awards for Best new Artist and just a few days ago Downbeat Magazine listed her as one of the “25 for the Future”.
In 2017, Julieta won the International Women in Jazz Competition in 2017 as a member of the SIJ trio. She has shared the stage multiple times with the jazz legend, Johnny O’Neal, and was featured on his residencies at many NYC clubs including: Smoke, Ginny’s, Smalls and Mezzrow. She also performed recently with the legendary Dee Dee Bridgewater at the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center.

 KENYATTA BEASLEY arrived in New York in 1994 to attend the prestigious Mannes School of Music where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Jazz composition and Performance. Cutting through the clutter of New York City’s musical landscape, Beasley’s innovative sound led to his first break: he joined Lauryn Hill to record and support the tour of her multi-platinum album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill — through which he accompanied a range of musical acts: Shakira, Wyclef Jean, Fantasia, Chaka Khan, the Wu Tang Clan, P. Diddy, Usher, Carlos Santana, Gloria Gaynor and Gladys Knight. Since, he has been a highly sought-after musician in too many bands to name.
Beasley is also a film composer, having composed the score for the film Earnie, which won the NYU/New York Magazine First Run Film Festival award for Best Original Score and also was a finalist at Sundance. The success of Earnie caught the ear of Quincy Jones who hired him as a contributor to the underscore on Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. He then went on to win Best Original Score at the Brooklyn Arts Council Film Festival for another short film, Heroes Wanted. The trumpeter has composed the scores for short films such as Jeffrey’s Calypso, Dentist Visit, Heart Attack and the award-winning Pariah. His first solo, full-length film score was written for a Vivica A. Fox film, Three Can Play That Game .He also returned to touring on the Mary J. Blige/Jay-Z “Heart of the City” jaunt.

After nearly a decade playing together they have developed a near-telepathic rapport, which they put to work interpreting El-Solh’s impressionistic compositions. Scree’s sound draws on an eclectic range of influences from Ellington to Brahms to Lebanese composer Ziad Rahbani. Pitchfork described their 2023 debut album, Jasmine On A Night In July, as “spellbinding.”

 Experience an evening where the hypnotic rhythms of Gnawa music meet the freedom and spontaneity of jazz. Led by SAMIR LANGUS, this dynamic quartet brings together musicians from diverse musical backgrounds to create a powerful and deeply expressive performance.
Featuring Elsa Nilsson on flute, Julia Chen on piano, and Nizar Dahmani on drums, the ensemble weaves traditional Gnawa grooves with modern jazz improvisation, creating music that is both rooted in centuries-old traditions and vibrantly contemporary. Driven by the pulse of the guembri and rich rhythmic textures, the quartet invites audiences on a journey that is soulful, energetic, and transcendent.
 SAMIR LANGUS is a Grammy-nominated musician, born and raised in Ait Melloule, Morocco. From a young age, he was immersed in the rich sonic environment of his hometown, where the daily sounds of merchants, street entertainers, and the call to prayer formed a vibrant backdrop to life. This deep-rooted connection to sound naturally led him to music—and more specifically, to Gnawa, the ancient spiritual trance tradition of Morocco.
