Early Night Club The original early club night - clubbing but earlier, 6.30 -11.30pm, & music you will know and love.

The Early Night Club is a Cambridge club night with a difference. Put simply it's clubbing for those of us who need our sleep. Our DJ's start playing at around 8pm (doors open at 7.30pm) and finish at 11.30pm (or sometimes midnight if we're feeling really crazy). We play great music that you will have heard of, serve fantastic cocktails and tapas and everyone is friendly and up for it - and let's just say we're all old enough to remember leg warmers the first time round. It’s about as much fun as you can squeeze into four hours and is always a night to remember. Tickets will be available online - usually just after the previous month's event.

We know you love a theme – so we have themed each of the next three events, starting with our Diwali/Bollywood party on October 22 (please join the waiting list if you want tickets, or head to Tixel for resales). All the usual party tunes, with some Bhangra and Bollywood thrown in for good measure.

If you’re unsure what to wear, we’ve asked All Star and chief Diwali consultant Parul Parbhat for her top tips! Scroll to the end for our inspo board and have some fun – get out your summer wardrobe and mix and match it with your sequins – jobs a good un! Of course, you can ignore the theme and wear your jeans, but if you want to be all in, read on!

Parul’s pointers for Diwali partywear …

1. If you think it’s OTT put more on
2. Jewels all the jewels/ gems and bling jewellery you have .. layer them on / bracelets/ big earrings / chunky shiny necklaces
3. Fusion dressing is great - pair summer long skirt or dress with a sequin mini dress/ get those summer harem pants and where with a velvet jacket!
4. Jingly jangly bangles
5. Don’t forget the Jewels
6. Colours .. Gold/champagne / orange or as colourful as you can get – all the colours as long as its lush/lux/bling!
7. Think layers ... harem pants and a kaftan; kimono and a dress... put unexpected things together and you might find you got the look...
8. Accessories are everything... a big belt / a scarf / oh... and some jewels !!

For any of you who have ever bought anything at our events from the wonderful Jane Horwood of Preloved Pop-up & Blog | Cambridge Chic, PLEASE READ this post.

Jane has been curating a rail of sequin dreams at our events for the past few years, bringing her inimitable style and incredible selection of glorious party clothes that have added essential sparkle and joy to our parties. Last month, Jane had to close Trash Chic due to her diagnosis of secondary breast cancer. “Having had breast cancer two and a half years ago, at the end of August I found out it had moved into my spine, which was an incredible shock. I decided to close Trash Chic to focus on my health and wanted to sell my remaining stock for a good cause.’ The charity sale will take place at the Grand Arcade on Saturday, October 24th; 10am - 5pm. There will be incredible sparkly bargains (all 50% off) and many more cool and stylish items. Everything must go, and all proceeds will support cancer services in Cambridge. Jane would also like everyone to know, ‘If there’s one message I want to share, it’s this: if you’ve had breast cancer and experience any new and unexplained symptoms – in my case, back pain – insist on a referral to a specialist who can get you in for an MRI. In the end, after months of worsening pain, I paid for a private MRI; if I hadn’t, who knows if or when the cancer would have been found.’
If you can comment here and let Jane and the team know you will be coming along, that would mean a great deal. Let’s raise some money, grab some fashion bargains and support Jane!

In a recent episode of the podcast, Stanford psychologist and Joy expert Dr Kelly McGonigal described the dancefloor as a ‘force field of connection and joy.’ The dancefloor apparently has a special power – all that movement and music is one of the fastest and most reliable ways to feel joy, a dopamine jolt of happiness that brings with it innumerable benefits (go listen – it’s fascinating). Not that we need the science to prove it. Pure joy is most definitely what we witness when a room full of women are singing along to Proud Mary, flinging their hair around like Tina Turner; when two strangers spontaneously decide to do the lift from Dirty Dancing; when we all start pogoing to The Killers or doing the YMCA like our lives depend on it. When we are all there with glitter on our faces, laughing, dancing, and wearing crazy bright sparkly things together – you can bet your ass we are feeling joy! Here’s to more of it this Autumn.

NUMBER ONE – On Monday at 10.00am, we will open sales for ALL our Autumn/Winter events – all at once.Remember, if an event sells out and your plans change, you can resell your ticket on Tixel. Please note that the Histon events are likely to sell out faster as the venue is smaller. Have something in the diary so the winter blues don’t get a look in!

NUMBER TWO – We’re so excited to be launching a new concept: The Early Social Club.
Life is busy and it can be hard to make time for yourself and to connect with others. Before you know it, months have gone by and all you’ve done is collapse on the sofa most evenings and watch yet another episode of something you’re not even that into. It’s all too easy to do as the nights draw in.

Social connection is important, but we all seem to be too busy - so how about knowing you can drop in for a coffee, cocktail or chat with some of your ENC pals once a month? In between the dancing. Perhaps sometimes there will be a talk from someone inspiring, great music playing, a mini fashion show or a DJ workshop. And sometimes... it might just be a few of us having a chat about life. It’s what you want it to be, so please tell us what would work for you.
Watch this space for more information, with our very first Early Social Club event coming in October.
