Howard Mallett Soul Club Cambridge Back in the 1970's The Howard Mallet Soul Club was THE place to be in Cambridge for Northern Soul. In the 1980's it also became a haven for Funk & Jazz Fusion.

Now a legendary soul venue it's influence lives on through the people and music.

As I have stated many times over recent years, when Kev Roberts issued his book regarding the top 500 N.S. Tunes, at the back of the book is a listing of ten N.S. Clubs "gone but not forgotten". Such great venues as Stars & Stripes (Yate), The Howard Mallett (Cambridge), Assembly Rooms (Derby), Va-Va`s (Bolton), Samantha`s (Sheffield), 76 Club (Burton-on- Trent), The Cromwelian (Bolton), Central Club (Leeds), King Mojo (Sheffield), The Chateua Impney (Droitwich) - Kev should know, all about the Howard Mallett Soul Club as he guested there!!!!

You can by all means have all the revivals / reunions you want but you can never re-live those magical 70`s nights - etched on the old memory bank indefinitely! Just ask those who were there...………………………...

Saturday 5th October is the date for the annual Wirrina Reunion which is held at the Ivy Leaf Club, Whittlesey. So many classics to be heard, most of which were also spun at the Legendary Friday Night Soul Sessions during the 70`s at the Howard Mallett Soul Club. Two unforgettable clubs that certainly left their indelible mark on the world of Northern Soul.

Every Tuesday Evening I am within a stones throw from the legendary Howard Mallett Soul Club doing my weekly radio show. At certain times I feel a pulling sensation from that direction somewhat similar to what a migratory bird must feel when those warmer climbs beckon after it`s summer visit. Quite unbelievable!
