Today marks the beginning of Pride Month, a time of celebration, reflection, remembrance, and unity.
Pride is so much more than rainbow flags, parades, parties, and nightlife. Pride exists because generations before us fought for the right to live openly, love freely, and simply be themselves. It was built by activists, trailblazers, drag queens, trans pioneers, and countless LGBTQ+ individuals who refused to be silenced, even when the world told them they should be.
Because of them, many of us are able to live more openly today.
Because of them, we have communities, chosen families, safe spaces, protections, visibility, and a voice.
And because of them, we have a responsibility to continue moving forward.
As we celebrate this month, let’s also remember that the fight for equality, acceptance, and understanding is not over. In today’s world, it is more important than ever that we stand together, support one another, and uplift every member of our community.
To anyone who may face negativity, hate, or judgment this month: don’t let it dim your light. We have overcome too much, come too far, and built too much together to be pushed backward. We are resilient. We are proud. We are here.
This month, we celebrate those who came before us, those standing beside us, and those who will come after us.
