This is Natasha and she is our resident overproof rum mad scientist and the person you call on when you can’t come up with a name for your cocktail. She also makes sure that those tasty juices and syrups that you love so much are ready to rip come 4pm. We asked her some questions about stuff, and here’s what she had to say:
Who/what inspires your cocktail creativity?
Natasha: Tastes good, is boozy. My deductive reasoning is kind of dull too, so usually I just go off instinct. Or how many garnishes I can get on one drink. Björk is definitely a major influence. Neil Young...
You can only work with one spirit for the rest of your life – who’s your fighter?
Natasha: Rum or tequila definitely... if I had to choose between the two... yikes. Those are kind of the two sides of me. I do like how versatile rum can be, so I gravitate towards that a lot of the time, but at the end of the day, tequila’s my girl. Get her some lime, a little agave, I’m done for.
What’s the small, cocktail-related hill that you’re willing to die on?
Natasha: Well, I don’t wanna die. But if I did, on a hill with a cocktail would be nice.
What’s your go-to shifter?
Natasha: Daiquiri with a little Cachaça, yow! – little cinnamon, ooh... hell, if I wanna pimp it out a little more, f**k it, some banana liqueur – call me crazy. Good s**t though.
What Starbird menu cocktail (previous or current) do you think everyone should try?
Natasha: Ghost Chaser! Yum! Pineapple garam masala? I mean c’mon...
What does your ideal day off look like?
Natasha: Get outside if it’s nice. Take my dog down to the river, maybe bike around. Spend time with Isabel and friends, lay down, stand up, get after it, you know. Work on my theories
