This couldn’t have happened at better time. We have possession of El Salvaje stolen bike! Justice has been served. We are still moving forward with his fundraiser for tonight as he still does not have a vehicle. See you tonight!

Saturday we’re throwing a party for the man who’s driven two hours from Vail every Saturday to play for us.

You know the story by now. Someone cut the chains on our back lot and took El Salvaje‘s tricycle — the one that isn’t how he gets to the gig, it IS the gig. It’s his table. He rebuilt that whole booth by hand. The same day, his van died. In twenty-four hours he lost the thing he plays on and the thing that gets him here.

So: BAILE EN EL BARRIO. Saturday Aug 8th, 8pm to close, no cover. Cumbia, salsa and guaguancó, all vinyl. 20% of every dollar over the bar goes straight to El Salvaje.

We’re not asking anyone to donate to a link. We’re asking you to come drink, dance, and let the night do the work.

Two more ways to help:

🎁 Bring something for the auction. Art, records, gear, a service, a tattoo slot, a piece you made, a gift certificate from your shop. If you’ve got something people would bid on, DM us today or bring it Saturday before 8. Every dollar goes to him.

🤝 Local businesses — if you want to throw in a donation, a raffle item, or a matching pledge, reach out. We’ll shout you out from the booth all night.

And if anybody’s got a reliable used vehicle they’re moving on, or works at a shop that could help with one, that’s the biggest thing anyone could do right now. He’s got no way to get to work.

Things get stolen from Desert almost weekly. We’ve made peace with that. But when what’s stolen isn’t ours, that’s different. That one we can’t shake off.

Sunday night, someone cut into our chained back lot and took El Salvaje’s tricycle.
If you’re Mexican, you already know this bike. It’s the paletero on your block. The tamalero at 6am. The knife sharpener whistling down the street. It’s the vehicle of people who build something out of nothing and carry it on three wheels. El Salvaje turned his into a DJ booth — turntables, speaker, serape, conch shell — and every Saturday he rolls it into Desert and plays like the room is the only room. He’s been our friend and our DJ since the day we met him, and nobody puts more care into what happens here than he does.

That trike is his livelihood and his life’s work. It’s not something you flip on Marketplace for a few hundred bucks.

$$$ reward, no questions asked, no names taken. Orange cargo tricycle, white-wall tires, custom rack. Impossible to miss and impossible to sell in this city without someone seeing it.

If you spot it, hear something, or see it listed — DM us or El Salvaje. If you’re the one who took it, leave it anywhere near 1312 S Broadway and we’re square. That’s the whole deal.
