What up WHOA Disco!

Happy 4th Anniversary! Thank you for 4 incredible years of spreading silent disco joy and bringing communities together. What started as a small dream, turned “ok, I really need to learn how to run with this thing.” THANK YOU!

The photo is one of my first ideas for a logo & mascot. (It was COVID when I started and I did a lot of coloring with my kids. Should I bring the Unicorn with headphones back?)

The first time I experienced a silent disco was winter of 2013 at the Traverse City Micro-Brew festival. My buddies and I were traveling up to see our favorite band ( ), when we stumbled into this tent, where a Rave was happening, …but with no music.

I was like “WHOA… this is weird.” Then, someone handed me a pair of headphones, and I was like, “WHOA!! This is amazing!”

I guess the seed was planted right there.

The next few years, I had always wondered, “Why doesn’t Ann Arbor have a silent disco company? That would be so fun!”

In 2020 the world changed. My world changed. I lost my job and spent that year longing for community and joy again. I decided to do something.

Nov. 6, 2021, I formed Whoa Silent Disco, and made it our mission to help bring communities together by sharing silent disco joy. Picture of me in 2021, trying to figure out how to use silent disco equipment.
