“When I first moved from Sabah to Peninsular Malaysia, I realised many people had never tried drinks from East Malaysia or were unfamiliar with its rich drinking traditions. Using these ingredients in cocktails felt like the most natural way to introduce them in a format people are familiar with.”

Born in Bandung, Dedi began as a runner in a speakeasy, drawn to the rhythm and craft of bartending. With a background in mechanical engineering, he brings a technical yet intuitive approach shaped by diverse mentors.

His cocktails are bold, umami driven, and often food focused, reworking ingredients like katsuobushi in unexpected ways. Now Head Bartender at Tamba, Dedi creates drinks that evolve with music, mood, and setting.

For this collaboration with Soma, he brings a grounded, expressive style focused on balance, depth, and quiet complexity.
