Opening week of Orpheus in has been magical.
A joy to be back doing what we love and a privilege to be joined with brilliant souls from the local community who said yes to making this beautiful show with us.

Introducing…..Spike Lidington to the Four of Swords team for Orpheus! Devon based, Actor, Musician, Puppeteer.

Performance and showmanship are what Spike is most passionate about, swiftly followed by his hobbyist obsession with Greek mythology.

After watching Four of Swords productions growing up, he is particularly excited to be performing in this show, and to join the echoing stories he knows.

There's just over 2 weeks left until the start of Orpheus at B**r Quarry Caves and there’s only a small handful of tickets remaining…

SO, with that exciting news, we’d love to introduce you to Sarah, producer and Co-founder of Four of Swords. She loves creating otherworldly experiences and can often be found hiding in the dark from audiences in caves, quarries, forests and empty office buildings.

Recent screen acting credits include the BBCs 'Beyond Paradise' and Cornish horror 'The Cull' where she is type cast as an ancient demon.

She's spent the last few summers on the road with Common Players producing and performing in open-air, rural tours of 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'The Tuck Inn' and teaching drama to students in Greece and Shanghai.

She is an Associate Artist at Exeter Phoenix where she and Phil run the legendary Summer Film School program.

Meet Miall, who is playing Orpheus himself! ✨( 🚨 PSO shows are selling out and tickets are moving extremlllyyyyy fast. So make sure to book… we can’t guarantee they’ll be tickets left on the day!)

After a university degree in mechanical engineering Miall attended the Central School of Speech and Drama and before leaving London performed in an off-West End adaptation of Sondheim's Marry Me a Little. In his twenties he toured schools around the south west UK and western Europe with Shakespeare's plays and original shows. A spell in the visual arts reconnected him with making things, and has spent the past decade mostly building theatrical sets and props, but also occasionally performing as part of Four of Swords. Time Out London Magazine twenty years ago described Miall as "A ticking time-bomb of charm". He firmly believes that Orpheus is the show where he's most likely to go off.

Music is a huge part of Orpheus coming up at B**r Quarry Caves next month, so we’re so excited to welcome Sasha Herriman, a singer and actor, to the team. She studied music at Durham and Bristol Universities. She's also worked widely in TV news and entertainment as a presenter on CNN, BBC, Channel 5, Sky and ITV. Sasha is the Artistic Director of The Reduced Opera Company.

This year Four of Swords have a big SURPRISE hidden in the caves that Ellie is helping with… 👀 So we wanted to introduce you to this new member of the Four of Swords team for Orpheus. Ellie is a dedicated freelance vocal coach, choir leader and musical director based in Devon. Her workshops and leadership promote sustainable singing techniques through a fun and inclusive approach. Participants develop their skills and confidence in a welcoming environment whether in a community music session or in one-to-one coaching.

Playfulness and physicality are core elements of Donald’s creative practice. His work has been nominated at the Off West End Theatre Awards 2023 for Best Performance and the Jean Benedetti Award 2016 for Best Actor. He trained between Rose Bruford College in London and ESAD de Murcia in Spain.

First up… Bea 👋

Bea can't wait to return to the caves after joining Four of Swords on Medea, Oedipus and Trista Heb Skovam. Other credits include projects with Sun and Moon, Exeter Northcott, short films and a cinematic video game. Bea is an assistant facilitator and recently trained as a Creative Support Worker through NYT and Exeter Northcott.
