I had the opportunity to MC the FIFA World Cup viewing parties in Coquitlam in front of crowds of up to 5,000 people.

I was completely in my element and loved every minute of it.

Yes, I had a script for the key announcements, but my favourite part was putting it aside, ad-libbing, riffing with the crowd, and feeding off the energy.

You’d never believe I used to dread public speaking.

I would go beet red. Sweat profusely. My heart would pound. My mouth would go dry. I’d stumble over my words.

And honestly… it wasn’t that long ago…

What started as a necessity to become a better DJ turned into one of my favourite parts of the job. Today, I’m just as comfortable speaking to thousands of people without a script as I am behind the DJ booth.

Funny how the things that scare us most can become our greatest strengths!

A young boy asked if I had any more swag.

I was all out.

Then he said, “It’s my mom’s birthday.”

So I asked her name.

A few seconds later, the whole stadium was singing Happy Birthday to her.

Best moments are the unplanned ones. 🎂🏟️❤️
