From Waiblingen to Valpo ✈️

Meet Tatjana, the heart behind Alpen Haus.

She was raised in Waiblingen, Germany by two German parents, in a home where every meal was a tradition and every recipe had a story. Many of those recipes have been passed down through her family for generations, with some dating back centuries.

The photos in her hands tell the rest. On the left, her childhood in Germany. On the right, her family arriving in the United States to start a new chapter in Northwest Indiana.

Now, years later, she's bringing that same upbringing home to downtown Valparaiso. The food, the Bier, the culture, the family traditions, all of it.

Alpen Haus officially opens this summer. Keep your eyes and ears open, there's a lot more coming 🇩🇪

Meet Chef Rob.

We’re proud to introduce the Executive Chef of Alpen Haus.

With over 30 years of experience in the kitchen, Chef Rob brings a deep understanding of quality, consistency, and what it takes to create a great guest experience. From the beginning, it was important for us to find someone who not only understands German cuisine, but can help bring our vision to life the right way.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working closely together behind the scenes, building the menu from the ground up and refining each dish as we go. We’re excited to start sharing more soon.

Valpo, our signs are up and we just cleared the final hurdle!

We’re Alec and Tatjana, founders of Alpen Haus & The Golf Lodge, and we couldn’t be more excited to share that construction is officially moving forward in downtown Valparaiso.

Restoring a historic building like this takes a great deal of unseen work, including planning, coordination, and a commitment to doing it the right way for our community. This week, the green light was given to move ahead, and the real transformation begins now.

The 6,000 sq ft space at 13 & 15 Washington Street is being transformed into Northwest Indiana’s only German restaurant and indoor golf venue, bringing authentic German cuisine, thoughtfully crafted drinks, Dartsee boards, and four Trackman simulator bays together under one roof. We will be completely family friendly for all ages!

Approximately 4 to 6 months of build-out, training, and preparation lie ahead as we work toward our grand opening in Summer 2026.

Thank you for the continued excitement and support. We can’t wait to open our doors.

It’s OFFICIAL: The Golf Lodge & Alpen Haus is coming to Downtown Valparaiso‼️ We’re bringing immersive indoor entertainment and the warmth of a German inspired restaurant just in time for winter.

Enjoy four Trackman simulators with multi-sport options (baseball, football, zombie dodgeball, & more), Dartsee boards, and Authentic German cuisine! We have our location picked out, now it’s time to get to work 🏌🏼🎯🇩🇪
