Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes when we're creating a new cigar?
If you've visited The Golden Leaf Chesterton lately, you may have noticed a section in the humidor labeled WP Test Blends. We've had quite a few people ask about them, so we thought we'd share a little of the story behind them.
Creating a cigar isn't as simple as choosing a few good to***co leaves and rolling them together. There's a lot of experimentation involved. Different wrappers, different combinations of filler to***co, different proportions. Sometimes changing just one leaf can completely transform the character of a cigar.
When we're developing a new blend, we'll roll a small batch, give the ci**rs time to rest, and then comes the enjoyable part. We smoke them, compare notes, make adjustments, and sometimes start the entire process over again.
Over time, we've developed quite a collection of blends, each with its own personality. Some are rich and bold, others are smooth and subtle. And while we certainly have our favorites, we've learned that everyone appreciates something a little different.
Rather than keeping all that experimentation to ourselves, we decided to invite our customers into the process. That's how our WP Test Blends came about.
You'll find a rotating selection of these handcrafted, small batch ci**rs at The Golden Leaf in Chesterton. Some may eventually become part of the WP Ci**rs collection. Others may never be made again. And that's part of the fun.
