Yesterday, I was sitting with my friend who is a die-hard Ronaldo fan. We were just having a normal conversation.
I suddenly said:
“Bro, that 2022 World Cup was something else. Argentina winning it, Messi finally lifting the trophy…”
The guy immediately went quiet. 😭
I looked at him and asked, “Are you okay?”
He said, “Yeah, I’m fine.”
So I continued.
“Imagine watching Messi lift the World Cup after everything he achieved…”
He picked up his phone.
I asked, “Where are you going?”
He said, “Nowhere.”
But he was already opening Instagram. 😂
I mentioned the World Cup again.
He stood up.
I said, “Sit down, bro. We’re just talking football.”
He replied, “I don't like this conversation.”
I asked him why.
He said, “Because every time you mention the World Cup, somehow Messi enters the conversation.”
I laughed and told him:
“That's the problem. The World Cup isn't making you uncomfortable. What happened at the World Cup is making you uncomfortable.” 😂🏆
Because some football conversations are like that.
You can talk about Champions League.
You can talk about goals.
You can talk about records.
But once someone says:
“WORLD CUP.”
Suddenly the Ronaldo fan needs water. 😭😭
And that's why World Cup conversations hit differently.
It isn't just a tournament anymore.
For some fans, it's a trigger word. 😂🏆
