Absolute stunner of a night to close out the Refuge 2025 season with Gremlinz, Homemade Weapons, and Kay-S hosted by Blak.

opened the night and shrouded the dancefloor with a winding river of bass and percussive aptitude, brought us in with his signature rapid fire style, and took us home with depth charge stunners paced expertly with deep and heavy rollers. To top it all off MC was able to fly in and host the night. Truly one for the books!

Although it took us some time to recap, our gratitude is immense. Thanks to all of you we have been able to keep Refuge going for another year. Your continued support of underground dance music means the world to us. We’re ever thankful to for the immersive lighting and decor. Big ups to for supplying the heavy artillery VOID system and staffing it with care. Gratitude as always goes out to for a welcoming bar.

Refuge is proud to announce that limited edition tshirts featuring an incredible design by the ever prolific artist , will be available to purchase at the show on Saturday, October 4th. This shirt displays Grym’s biomechanical interpretation of the Refuge ‘r’ in red screenprint on a black shirt and our tagline “SEEK_REFUGE” in red on the back.

Another run of our classic original shirt with the gray ‘r’ will also be available. Limited sizes and quantities are available so please arrive at the show early to secure a specific size. Please also note that we are unable to set aside sizes.

Toronto-based producer and DJ Gremlinz brings a straightforward, no-frills approach to his sets, focusing on raw energy and subtle groove. His unique sound and style have earned him a loyal following worldwide, and his affiliation with Loxy & Ink’s HORSEMENcollective has further solidified his place among some of the genre’s most forward-thinking artists.

Gremlinz has released music on a range of respected labels including Metalheadz, Architecture Recordings, Renegade Hardware, 31 Records, Cylon, Rupture, AMAR, and Paradox Music. His versatility is evident in his broad range of output, from breakbeat-heavy tracks to atmospheric, dubby half-step grooves—always pushing the boundaries of Drum & Bass while staying true to his roots.

Gremlinz co-founded UVB-76 Music alongside fellow producers Ruffhouse, a label committed to pushing the boundaries of bass music. UVB-76’s success led to the creation of several offshoots: Droogs (co-run with Overlook), 4 6 2 5, and The Stone Tapes (curated by Overlook & Vega Ruffhouse). Each of these labels continues to draw a global audience eager for innovative, cutting-edge sounds.

In addition to UVB-76, Gremlinz, co-founded Shark with Laser on Head Recordings, an imprint dedicated to more experimental and avant-garde music, as well as The Lee Garden Historical Preservation Society (T.L.G.H.P.S), a conceptual project that blends elements of dub, ambient, and Drum & Bass to explore new soundscapes.

Kay-S is a Visual Artist, Producer, and DJ based out of Tampa Bay, Florida. Over his nearly two decade involvement in the Florida Drum & Bass/Jungle community, he has maintained a consistently refreshing presence with his unique approach in presenting music. Forever on the fringe, Kay-S favors selections that bend and blur genres, with a large focus on Techno influenced Drum & Bass.

Kay-S is co-founder, DJ, and artist of the lauded Refuge Nights in St. Petersburg, Florida; a monthly Drum & Bass and Jungle night focusing on the deeper end of the genre as an authentic, thoughtfully curated, music-centric dark-room experience. He is also a resident DJ, Designer and Promoter for the collective: A Night of Drum & Bass Tampa Bay (ANODNB), a staple in the community with over a decade of producing events in the Tampa Bay area. Kay-S also hosts a monthly radio show on Subtle Radio called Underscore_. The show is based on his popular Underscore_ mix series and also features guest mixes from artists such as Homemade Weapons, Red Army, 88 Katanas, among others. The show airs every first Monday of the month at 9pm Eastern.

Homemade Weapons made his early impressions in 2013, with his acclaimed Kintaro EP; as one of the few spearheading the driving, minimal, half-time Drum-N-Bass movement. Three years later he went on to present his proof of concept via a full length debut album, Negative Space. Over the years Homemade Weapons has ceaselessly refined his craft, proving his fearsome reputation and reinforcing his arsenal.

Homemade Weapons’ approach to percussive bass driven music tiptoes the boundaries of Jungle, Drum-N-Bass, and Techno, oftentimes finding itself in mixed genre presentations for its singularity. Homemade Weapons style is defined with classic jungle break edits as rapid fire emphasis tools on top of mood-soaked, kick drum rhythms. These elements combined with his trademark dub inclusions set Homemade Weapons aside in a music scene bursting with fresh talent.

With years of successful podcasts and guest mixes, and over a decade of international touring, Homemade Weapons has proven himself as a force to be reckoned with, and a performance not to be missed. Having fully internalized the musical ethos of his native Baltimore/ DC, and his west coast backdrop of Seattle, WA, his music exhibits a combination of subtlety, power, and depth, rare in any genre, but much more so in the confines of Drum-N-Bass music.

Recently, Homemade Weapons has celebrated the end of his “Weaponry” label with a three part collection titled the ‘disarm’ series. The series features his own productions as well as inspiring works from and with his contemporaries. 2025 brings forth more artistic and conceptual exploration with a new label, “Weaponist.”

Refuge closes out it’s 2025 season with Toronto-based producer and DJ Gremlinz, newly-minted resident Homemade Weapons, and co-founder Kay-S on opening duties. Blak returns to celebrate both his and Kay-S’ birthdays and to bless the mic on a properly rowdy night full of depth charge bass and razor sharp percussion.

We’re so thankful for everyone that came out to support Refuge with Godfather Sage, Ash, and Christian Parchuke. stunned us with his first time playing higher tempo with deep exploration. We lost ourselves in .ess’ expert set of percussive technoid jungle with an undeniable groove. covered the full range of sound from hardcore inspired, to drumfunk, to Intalex rollers. We’re ever thankful to for the immersive lighting and decor (he even cued some lights during his set). Big ups to for supplying the heavy artillery VOID system and staffing it with care.
