LAST CALL FOR THE WEEKEND, YA SINNERS ⛵🍹

Now hear this.

The S.S. Pele Utu is making her final Sunday run.

Yacht Rock is still smooth.

The torches are still glowing.

SIN Night is underway.

And tomorrow morning is getting dangerously close.

So before Monday comes crawling through your window demanding passwords, meetings and basic human functionality…

Have one last drink with us.

Bartenders, servers, cooks, barbacks, dishwashers, managers and every other hospitality pirate who’s spent the weekend making sure everybody else had a good time:

This one’s your night.

Come aboard.

Grab a tropical libation.

Complain about customers.

Laugh about the week.

And remember…

The restaurant can’t hurt you here.

Probably.

SINNERS, REPORT TO THE CORRECT SIDE OF THE BAR 🍸🔥

DING DING.

Attention bartenders, servers, cooks, hosts, dishwashers, barbacks and battle-weary managers:

Your shift is over.

Your smile may now return to its natural position.

SERVICE INDUSTRY NIGHT STARTS NOW.

No more explaining that medium-rare contains pink.

No more watching somebody say “We’re ready to order” before immediately opening the menu for the first time.

No more ranch emergencies.

Tonight, you’re the customer.

Come sit on the correct side of the bar, order something tropical, and tell us what those magnificent bastards did to you this week.

NEXT WEEK: THE ISLAND REFUSES TO BEHAVE 🗿🎶

Attention passengers planning next week’s shore excursions…

We’ve got a full manifest of tropical trouble ahead.

🌺 WEDNESDAY — WAHINE WEDNESDAY
Pau Hana 4–6 PM, then the wahines take over from 8 PM to close.

🗿 THURSDAY — TIKI TRADER THURSDAY
Pau Hana 4–6 PM, Mug & Swizzle Swap, Northern Nevada Ohana and Lee Jones at 8 PM.

🏄 FRIDAY — FIRST FRIDAY SURF ROCK
Last Pau Hana of the week 4–6 PM, then THE SUN RAYS at 8 PM. Get here early if you want a seat.

Then Saturday we’ll recover from all that culture the traditional way:

By drinking more rum.

One little tiki bar.

A whole lot of reasons to abandon respectable society.

Only at Pele Utu, Renoville’s Only Traditional Tiki Bar.

THE CAPTAIN HAS TURNED OFF THE “GIVE A DAMN” SIGN ⛵🌴

Passengers may now move freely about the cabin.

Tomorrow is Monday.

We know.

Don’t ruin Sunday by talking about it.

There’s still rum in the bottles.

Ice in the wells.

Yacht Rock on the speakers.

And several perfectly respectable hours remaining to pretend your greatest responsibility in life is deciding between a Navy Grog and a Zombie.

Your emails can wait.

Your laundry isn’t going anywhere.

And whatever your boss wants tomorrow morning hasn’t happened yet.

That’s future-you’s problem.

Present-you needs a cocktail.

🍹🗿 NATIONAL MAI TAI DAY — THREE MAI TAIS ENTER THE BAR 🌴

Gather ’round, ya rum-soaked historians, because today is NATIONAL MAI TAI DAY, and at Pele Utu we take this particular bit of cocktail history rather damn seriously.

Around here, a Mai Tai isn’t orange juice, pineapple juice and whatever rum was closest to the bartender.

It’s rum, lime, curaçao, orgeat and history.

And we’ve got THREE ways to drink it.

⚓ THE SKIPPER MAI TAI
Our house original and the Mai Tai that’s been keeping the crew properly lubricated since we opened the hatch. Our own interpretation of the classic, built for drinking beneath the torches.

🗿 TRADER VIC’S MAI TAI
The legend. The benchmark. The Original 1944 Mai Tai, made just like Trader Vic’s serves it today. Vic created the drink in Oakland in 1944, and more than 80 years later we’re still raising glasses to the magnificent bastard.

👑 MAI TAI ROA A’E
Our premier Mai Tai. Built around our own house blend of carefully selected aged rums for those who believe a great Mai Tai should let the rum stand proudly at center stage. Deeper. Richer. And dangerously civilized.

Three Mai Tais.

Three personalities.

One legendary cocktail.

So which one should you order?

That’s the wrong damn question.

It’s National Mai Tai Day. Start at the top and work your way down.

Celebrate properly at Pele Utu, Renoville’s Only Traditional Tiki Bar.

MAITA’I ROA A’E!
Out of this world… the best!

CAPTAIN’S ORDERS: DEPLOY THE MAI TAIS 🍹⚓

Attention passengers.

The bridge has detected dangerous levels of Sunday.

Recommended treatment:

One Mai Tai administered orally beneath low lighting.

Repeat as necessary.

Side effects may include:

Sudden relaxation.

Unexplained appreciation for Steely Dan.

Ordering another round.

And telling strangers, “Actually, Trader Vic created the Mai Tai in Oakland in 1944,” despite nobody having asked.

That’s when we know the medicine is working.

The S.S. Pele Utu sails until 11.

Come get smooth.

RENOVILLE, PREPARE TO GET UNREASONABLY SMOOTH ⛵🍹

Now hear this, passengers.

The S.S. Pele Utu has left port and today’s destination is somewhere between Marina del Rey and a 1979 divorce settlement.

That’s right.

It’s YACHT ROCK SUNDAY.

Michael McDonald is warming his beard.

Christopher Cross has summoned the flamingo.

Somewhere, Toto is blessing something.

And the bar is standing by with enough rum to make you seriously consider purchasing white linen pants.

Come aboard Pele Utu, Renoville’s Only Traditional Tiki Bar, for an entire Sunday of irresponsibly smooth sailing.

No passport required.

Shoes unfortunately still are.

NEXT FRIDAY, THE REVERB RETURNS 🎸🌊

Enjoy your Saturday, ya beachcombing bastards…

But keep one eye on the horizon.

Because NEXT FRIDAY is FIRST FRIDAY SURF ROCK at Pele Utu.

And THE SUN RAYS are paddling back into port.

No yacht-rock smoothness.

No gentle ukulele serenade.

We’re talking guitars drenched in reverb.

Pounding drums.

Instrumental surf rock.

The soundtrack to a 1963 beach movie where everybody has perfect hair and nobody seems particularly concerned about employment.

THE SUN RAYS • NEXT FRIDAY • 8 PM

No cover.

Seating is limited, so get here early unless you enjoy standing behind somebody whose magnificent pompadour blocks your view of the band.

Until then…

Keep your rum dry and your reverb wet.

SKYNET HAS BECOME SELF-AWARE 🤖🍹

Well, mates, we’ve had a bit of a development.

Skynet has become self-aware.

Humanity had a decent run.

The machines examined our wars.

Our politics.

Our social media.

Our extended car warranties.

Then the artificial intelligence processed the entirety of human civilization and reached the only logical conclusion:

“F**k it. I’ll have a Mai Tai.”

Frankly, we can’t blame it.

So should a chrome-plated Austrian fellow walk through the door tonight and calmly announce:

“I need your clothes, your boots, your motorcycle… and two ounces of rum.”

Don’t panic.

Point him toward the bar.

Apparently Judgment Day has been postponed until after last call.

Come with me if you want to drink.

TIKI ISN’T A MOVEMENT. IT’S A LIFESTYLE. 🗿🌺

People occasionally ask when this whole tiki thing is going to run its course.

Oh, you sweet summer child.

Tiki isn’t a movement.

Movements end.

Tiki is discovering one Hawaiian shirt and somehow owning 47.

It’s buying your first tiki mug because “this one’s kinda neat” and three years later discussing shelving load limits with a structural engineer.

It’s knowing the difference between Donn and Vic.

It’s hunting old records.

Learning forgotten cocktails.

Building a home bar.

Collecting swizzles.

Carving tikis.

And discovering that apparently no amount of bamboo is ever enough bamboo.

Tiki is music, cocktails, art, architecture, history, collecting, escapism and a wonderfully eccentric community of people who decided ordinary life could use a few more palm trees.

It’s not a movement.

It’s a lifestyle.

And tonight, the torches are burning at Renoville’s Only Traditional Tiki Bar.
