Subject: Heartfelt Thanks and Reflections on Our 90th Anniversary Celebration
Dear VFW and Auxiliary Members,
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all the VFW members and Auxiliary members who came out to help us celebrate the Post's 90th Anniversary. Thanks to your effort and dedication, the event was a tremendous success. The legacy that VFW Post 1316 has created over the years is truly phenomenal. We stand as a beacon in the Black community, with our reach stretching all the way to Wisconsin and beyond.
Here in Little Rock, there is no other venue in the city that offers its facilities for rent at just $150. This unique opportunity highlights the accessibility and community spirit that our Post embodies. I have posted a link where you can access photos from the event, and as you review the images, it becomes clear that our mission of fostering camaraderie among our veterans and Auxiliary members remains strong and vibrant.

As Commander Elect, Chad Moore will be taking over next month, and I want to acknowledge the great responsibility he carries on his shoulders in preserving and advancing the Post's legacy. We are hopeful that Chad will be able to unite past members and encourage their ongoing support as we move forward together.
Special thanks go to State Commander Rodney Wood for installing our newly elected VFW Officers. Additionally, a big thank you to our very own Past Post Commander and Post Bar Manager, Debra Mattocks, who installed the newly elected VFW Auxiliary members with great pride and professionalism.
On a personal note, I thought I might not get a chance to enjoy any of the delicious food at the event because I was busy in the office signing up a new member, Comrade Samuel Keith, and transferring a new member, Dominique Lowe, who is in her 30s. This is truly a testament to the direction in which our Post is headed—towards growth and renewal through younger members joining our ranks.
Before the event concluded, I made an announcement that our Post currently has 53 of its 161 members over the age of 75—over one-third of our total membership. This reality underscores the urgent need for us to recruit younger veterans to ensure that our great legacy continues for generations to come.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support and commitment. Together, we will keep the spirit of VFW Post 1316 alive and thriving.
