Hellooo dancers! An important update regarding parking for the next few weeks. Please read!!

As many of you know by now, our building has been undergoing some major construction over the past few months. I've just been notified that they're going to start working on the parking lot next week.
This is something they've keeping the tenants informed of for the past few weeks, so I knew this has been coming for a while now.

Starting Tuesday, September 8th, they're beginning Phase 1 and are going to close off half of the big parking lot, including it's main gate. There will be a temporary entrance by the Mercado Popular shop (22 Orange St).

They will also be closing off access between Arbor St. and Orange St.

This also means that you will have to use the building's front entrance instead of the parking lot entrance.

Yeah, I know. This sounds like a lot. So here are your options:

To access the big (now not so big) parking lot, turn onto Orange St from Park St (Park St is the street with Parkville Market).

There is also street parking available in the area, and there's a possibility we'll be able to use the parking lot at 30 Arbor St next door (I will update when I get a update).

I know this is going to be an inconvenience for a little while, but this is only temporary, and it means we're getting a brand new parking lot!

Classes are going to keep happening as usual, so try to give yourself some extra time to find parking and I'll see you all on the dance floor!

September is starting tomorrow and that means new dances!

If you've never come to any of my classes, welcome! I teach beginner lessons on Mondays and intermediate lessons on Thursdays. Each month there's a new lineup and this is what we're looking at for September:

Mondays:
7pm (Level 1): Cha cha
Cha cha is a great dance to learn, especially for newbies! Even better, this dance works great for contemporary pop songs, especially if those pop songs are feeling too fast for hustle.

8pm (Level 2): Night Club Two Step
This dance has become one of my staples for slow songs, country songs, and alternative rock. It's also great for songs that are done in 6/8 time (if you can hear a beat that makes you want to count to 6 quickly, that's 6/8 time).

Thursdays:
7pm (Level 3): Intro to Viennese Waltz
Ah, Viennese Waltz! One of the most challenging dances to learn, and yet so much fun to figure out! I love teaching this dance and I hope you'll enjoy learning it!

8pm (Level 4): Bachata
If you're looking to up your game for salsa nights, bachata is a great compliment to salsa! This month I'm aiming to show more complex patterns and introduce new turns.

Don't forget that my lessons are walk ins only. There's no need to register ahead of time, or even bring a partner! Also, I prefer cash, but I do take credit card, tap to pay, and Zelle and Venmo!

Last but not least, some of you may have noticed I now have a lost and found basket! Please message me if you recognize anything that's yours!

Hey Dancers! Hartford Ballroom now accepts Zelle and Venmo!

Some students have asked me about the fees that Square charges for every credit card transaction. I appreciate that a lot of students have offered to pay those fees, so here's an experimental plan. I've set up a tip option for credit card transactions. So, if you want to give an extra dollar to cover the fee Square charges me, you are more than welcome to. This option is not required though, so no pressure!

As always, cash is the preferred option for paying for class, so if you can, cash is always appreciated!

Oh, and one more thing: the studio now has a lost an found basket! So if I find anything left behind, it's going in the basket. If you need to retrieve your lost item, shoot me a message to see when you can grab it, or just come during a group class to pick it up!

Salsa night with Jason Pepin is back! Now on the 1st Friday of every month, enjoy salsa workshops that start easy and get progressively harder, with periods of open salsa dancing in between!

I've gotten so used to simply telling people who asked that I completely forgot to make an official announcement regarding Nate and how he died. So here it is.

According the Medical Examiner, Nate died of a pulmonary embolism. It occurred in the middle of the night at his home. He was 35 years old.

This community (both on and off the dance floor) has been so wonderful and so supportive and my family and I will never be able thank you all enough. You have all helped us so much in our time of loss and grief, and we felt you deserved to know what happened. Thank you again for everything.
