Round Turn is a small distillery located in a 150 year-old textile mill on the coast of Maine. Distilling is simple, just condensing vapor back to liquid.

A Round Turn is the most simple knot, one complete turn of a rope around an object. Despite its simplicity, it is immensely strong and effective, used to hold even great ships against a dock. But its strength relies on a person holding one end of the rope and applying tension, allowing the forces of friction and torque to work. But with a person applying their senses of smell and taste, this simple process can be harnessed to produce something complex and sublime. Located in a 150 year-old textile mill on the Saco River 5 miles from the Maine coast, Round Turn Distilling embodies the pragmatism and industriousness of its New England forebears. While the mill once used the waters of the river to power its massive looms, Round Turn uses steam to power its modern, steel and copper still. The still is itself an embodiment of tradition informed by innovation. Built in Etna, Maine, by Trident Stills, it blends the basic principles of the centuries-old pot-still with modern innovations and efficiencies. After all, tradition was once innovation in its time.

🥒SO FRESH, SO CLEAN🥒

Overkast with a chance of OutKast this afternoon… This fan favorite is hitting the board for the night before we flip it to the Barrel Reserve tomorrow 🙂‍↕️🥳

Our original gin with cucumber, bergamot, a blend of vermouths and bitters. A “clean” martini, if you will.. There’s a vegetable in there, just roll with it 🥺👉👈

⚡️Back and Better Than Ever⚡️

This Saturday, October 10th we’ll have a release party for Bimini Barrel Reserve !!! Welcome back, queen 👑😮‍💨 🎉Darren popped open those barrels and bottling was done today. We’ll have drinks on the board to highlight our little lady, BR1! The BR1 and some Fever Tree Mediterranean tickles my fancy … real ones know 😤

Dust off those dancin shoes, we’ll be boogie-ing (boogying? boogieing?) and imbibing all night long 💃🕺🪩🥳

✨The Final Harvest✨

We’ve come together with our friends at Biddo Banh and Biddeford Community Gardens for one final harvest of the year! 🥳🌱

Biddo Banh and the Round Turn team are working to utilize vegetables and herbs in food and beverage for the evening from our local community gardens. While the temperatures are dropping, the people of BCG are still working hard to keep the greenhouse going and prepare for next season. This event will have a portion of proceeds going directly to Biddeford Community Gardens to help support the costs on anything they may need.

Happy distilling day!!! 🥳🥳🥳

We’re making the OG today!! Darren’s hands look like this so yours can … well … hold martinis or whatever you kids are drinking these days with our gin 🤪

Our distilling process starts early in the morning and runs for almost 14 hrs. Before we had two stills to run in tandem, Darren would have to distill one day, clean and refill the still the day after, then distill the second batch of botanicals the following day. That’s why we pay him the big bucks 🤑🤩

Each bucket of distillate is blended together into a tank, where it will later rest for 6 weeks before being proofed and bottled 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️
