Located in the heart of downtown Austin’s Warehouse district, The Roosevelt Room is Austin's most awarded cocktail bar, offering a seated experience with table service provided by its knowledgeable bar staff to guide guests through its expansive menu of classic and original cocktails, craft beer, wine, and epicurean bar food. Sunday, we’re getting into the wonderfully wide world of Vodka, Gin, Genever & Aquavit. ⁠

Join us on October 11th from 12pm–2:30pm for the latest installment of The Roosevelt Room’s Bartending Master Class Series.⁠

We’ll explore four distinct spirit categories and taste 12 examples spanning everything from potato and grain vodkas to Old Tom, Plymouth, London Dry, New Western, and New World gins, along with Genever and both unaged and aged Aquavit.⁠

Along the way, we’ll dive into the history and production behind each category, discuss what makes different styles unique, and teach the fundamentals of properly nosing and tasting spirits.⁠

Join us Sunday, October 11th from 12pm–2:30pm for our next Bartending Master Class as we explore the history, production, styles, and flavors of Vodka, Gin, Genever & Aquavit.⁠

Throughout the afternoon, we’ll taste 12 unique spirits while exploring how raw ingredients, distillation, botanicals, filtration, maturation, and other production decisions influence what ultimately ends up in your glass. We’ll discuss the predominant styles of each category, their defining characteristics, and what to look for in spirits of superior quality.⁠

As we head into fall, we’re ready to reach for some of our favorite cocktails to carry us into the cooler days ahead. One of those favorites is our take on the Bobby Burns, a classic Scotch-based relative of the Manhattan with more than a century of history behind it.⁠
⁠
One of the earliest known appearances of the Bobby Burns dates to the early 1910s at the Big Brass Rail inside New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, with the cocktail later finding its way into Harry Craddock’s 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book. Named for beloved Scottish poet Robert “Rabbie” Burns, the drink has endured as a fitting celebration of Scotch, tradition, and thoughtful cocktail craftsmanship.⁠

Our version combines our own RR House Blended Scotch, 10-Year Islay Scotch, Punt e Mes, , Abbott’s Bitters, salt tincture, and aromatic lemon oils for a rich, warming, and beautifully layered sip.⁠

Throughout the class, you’ll sample 14 top-quality modifiers while learning where they come from, how they’re made, what makes each category unique, and how bartenders use them to build balance, complexity, aroma, and depth. We’ll also guide you through the proper techniques for nosing and tasting spirits, helping you understand not only what you’re tasting, but how to more effectively identify and appreciate the aromas, flavors, textures, and nuances in your glass.⁠

Negroni Week has returned to The Roosevelt Room, and all week long we’ll be offering our House Negroni for just $10, featuring alongside the bittersweet combination of Campari and our house Sweet Vermouth blend, which has made this three-part classic an enduring favorite for more than a century.⁠

For those unfamiliar with , it’s about much more than celebrating one of the cocktail world’s most iconic drinks. Founded in 2013 by , the annual initiative brings thousands of bars and restaurants around the world together for one week with a simple idea: drink a great Negroni and help support a great cause while doing it.
