Here’s a little spotlight on 2 of our cast members who play the central characters.

Grace is being played by Amanda Bedwell and Ruth by Carolyn Hurley.

The play centres on Grace, with Ruth acting as both catalyst and contrast.

After her husband’s death, Grace is left alone in the vicarage garden — a symbolic space where much of the play unfolds. Having spent her life supporting her husband’s ministry, she begins to confront uncomfortable truths.

Ruth is the disruptor. She challenges Grace’s idealised version of her husband and forces uncomfortable truths into the open.

Set in a vicarage garden, Entertaining Angels is filled with sharp-edged comedy and probing wit. This recent play, which premiered in 2006, asks whether God can be trusted to do anything right at all. 'Or is the whole thing a divine exercise in trial and error'?

Richard Everett’s acclaimed play, which originally starred Penelope Keith, can be seen at Witham Public Hall from the 18th to 21st March starting at 7.30pm nightly.
