Danzig released their self-titled debut album, introducing the world to a darker, blues-infused side of Glenn Danzig’s musical vision...🔥

The album marked a new chapter for Glenn Danzig following the end of Samhain and his earlier work with the Misfits. For his new band, he assembled guitarist John Christ, bassist Eerie Von and drummer Chuck Biscuits, creating a lineup that would become closely associated with Danzig’s classic early sound. 🤘🥁

The record featured some of the band’s most enduring songs, including “Twist of Cain,” “Not of This World,” “Am I Demon,” “Mother,” “She Rides,” “Soul on Fire” and “Possession.” “Mother” would eventually become one of Glenn Danzig’s signature songs, receiving renewed attention years later after its 1993 re-release and MTV exposure.

When the dead yearn for rebirth in the shadow of the year.

When they look into your eyes, they see something real, something rare, something pure and dark, a burning intensity.

Their blackened hearts, as cold as death, their pact of blood.

Your fire, your pain, your desire. They want to possess a part of it, to feed from it, to live again.

They see that it burns brighter than a thousand suns, as if the brightest lights were now mere candle flame flickering in the blackest night.

On a northern shoreline, a funeral pyre sears the night like rivulets of molten metal on human flesh.

A fjord at midnight, a longship is ablaze on the inky shimmering waters like glowing embers on a black mirror.

We surrender ourselves to Samhain…

Remembering Layne Staley 🔥
(August 22, 1967 – April 5, 2002) 🕊️

One of the most distinctive voices of the Seattle grunge era, Staley rose to international prominence with Alice in Chains, helping shape the band's dark and heavy sound alongside Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney, and Mike Starr. His voice could move effortlessly from fragile and introspective to devastatingly powerful, giving songs such as "Man in the Box," "Would?", "Rooster," "Down in a Hole," and "Nutshell" an unmistakable emotional weight...🎤🔥

Staley was also a key member of Mad Season, the Seattle supergroup formed with Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, Screaming Trees bassist John Baker Saunders, and drummer Barrett Martin. Their only album, Above, became another lasting testament to Staley's extraordinary vocal presence and songwriting.

On April 5, 2002, Layne Staley died at the age of 34. His passing marked the loss of one of the most recognizable and emotionally powerful voices in rock, but his music continues to resonate with generations of fans.

Gone far too soon, but never forgotten!! 🕯️
