Our latest Cocktail of the Week is also a preview of our upcoming summer cocktail menu!

This boozy, yet delicate and refreshing apéritif cocktail was inspired by the iconic novel ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ by Alexandre Dumas. The drink’s namesake comes from the storied Palais Des Tuileries in Paris, France. As a nod to one of the main settings in the novel, we use the quintessentially Parisian elderflower liqueur St. Germain, which delicate flavour profile perfectly reflects the terroir of the region.

Following a jousting accident which led to the death of King Henry II in 1559, his widow Catherine De’ Medici moved into the Palais du Louvre, but had plans for a new residence for herself nearby in the historic area of the city. At the behest of Catherine, construction of the Palais Des Tuileries began in 1564, and served as the residence for many of France’s monarchs from Henry VI to Napoleon III, until it was burned by the Paris Commune in 1871.

The palace features in Dumas’ classic novel as the setting for a scene in which ambitious public prosecutor Gérard de Villefort and King Louis XVIII discuss the arrest of one Edmond Dantès, or as he’s more commonly known, The Count of Monte Cristo.

Room In The Tuileries is much like The Count himself - Complex, Intriguing, and Enigmatic.
