Bleak reading in but it’s good that the conversation is being had.

Times are indeed tough at the moment (thanks in no small way by a number of angry old white men making life harder, more turbulent and more expensive for everyone).

Where as clubs were once a release, and a way to form and be a part of a community of likeminded musical souls, today they seem more of a last minute luxury, due to the prices of everything else rising.

So how do they evolve and ride out this period? We would genuinely like to get your thoughts.

What a find at in Liverpool. The Back to Basics 10th anniversary mix CD by Danny Tenaglia was a huge deal when it came out, and I was lucky enough to be living in Leeds in 2001/2002 as well.

As a resident at SpeedQueen at the time, every Saturday would start there and finish at Basics at the Mint Club, so I was a regular in there when this came out.

This mix also came out at the peak of the golden era of mix CDs (Fabrics tins - Andrew Weatherall, The Glimmers, Jacques Lu Cont and DJ Yoda being the best, Bugged Out: Justin Robertson & Fix Da Housecat and, the Jon Carter mix of the 3 CD Essential Selection being highlights of this time).

What still stands out from this CD was the track ‘Terror’ by Fused which blew my mind at the time and still sounds immense today 🤯
