Funky Adjacent turns 4 in July (where has the time gone)?! 😮 For this year’s shindig, we’re spotlighting artists shaping the next chapter of the label, inviting some of our 2026 producers down to soundtrack the night.

Nadī promises percussive pressure, enchanting vocals, and bouncy basslines. KTM brings skippy drums, melodic UK funky rhythms, and selections shaped by years immersed in soundsystem and club culture. Sonny Makepeace represents the funky new gen, supplying his signature blend of bounce, breakbeats, and soulful melody.

And of course, the Funky Adjacent residents will be delving into UK funky, global club sounds, broken rhythms, and other percussive delights.

Last year’s iteration was so special and we can’t wait to celebrate four rewarding years with you all this summer! Love to everyone who has supported the journey so far ❤️ Early birds on RA :)

FA009: Nadī - AKIKA

Bristol-based affiliate Nadī arrives on Funky Adjacent with AKIKA, three bold tracks fusing dark and vibrant energy.

Akika is a tradition of giving charity and thanks after a baby is born in Islam. With the AKIKA EP, Nadī aims to give thanks and appreciation, and provide blessings and wishes for a good future.

Dub Train is a leftfield, chugging roller driven by a woozy bassline and a loose-limbed rhythm, threading together conga and djembe drums, techno-dancehall motifs and flashes of hoover synth.

Pineapple Punch is built around arresting basslines shaped in a studio session between Nadī and . Anchored by a unifying pad, the track weaves together the beat of a talking drum with mesmerising vocals, flutes and crisp shakers, while sinister, detuned synths flicker at the edges.

Birdsong delivers an off-kilter groove laced with warped bird calls. A weighty, UK-rooted bassline pushes through grimy claps, trailed by echoing chirps and low-end wobble.

FA008: Addiction by KTM 🔊

Funky Adjacent welcomes to the label for a three-track release. As the brother of UK Funky royalty Roska, it’s clear that talent runs in the family. But KTM has carved out a distinct sound of his own, built on heavy drums, rolling basslines, intricate percussion and flashes of melody.

1) Overload sees skippy drums and crisp percussion intertwine with Latin-tinged piano pizzazz.

2) Addiction (featured here) is a darker piece of modern UK Funky, driven by echoing vocal fragments, bumping log drums and hypnotising flute lines.

3) Disrespect rounds off the EP with a bouncy nod to classic UK Funky, fusing an infectious melody with glockenspiel accents and playful flute riffs.

The EP will be released on 27 March. Stay tuned to find out more about the tracks and the man behind them between now and then!
