FA011 - La Sombra by sonny makepeace

Funky Adjacent welcomes Southeast London-based sonny makepeace to the fold with a three-track EP. He’s part of a new generation of young producers pushing UK Funky forward.

sonny’s distinctive sound has been shaped by his childhood spent immersed in soundsystem culture at festivals.

Fresh Soil is an emotive, groove-filled combination of vocal chops, bouncy log drums, layered melodies and funky percussion.

Spida Plant became an outlet for learning to let go. It layers jazzy chords, shimmering arps and crisp shakers over a bleepy bassline and full-bodied sub bass.

Mango Loco channels complex feelings and pools many of sonny makepeace’s influences, fusing swung percussion, hopeful chords, ambient textures, and an enveloping, speed garage-style bassline you immediately want to hear on a soundsystem.

Get Mango Loco with the pre-order now 🥭 Full EP out on 16 October 🔗
