Reaching out to our Camel family 🐪 ❤️ our good friends over at Mr Rave Events are putting on an absolute class event on Saturday 18th April and we think it would be crazy of us to not tell you about it 🎉

Mr Rave Events is going Laaarge in Huddersfield at Club Rhubarb for one night only with Trance Legend Lange playing an extended 90 minutes set of all his iconic tunes and a good mix of ibiza anthems from the 90s-00s 🎵🎶

This amazing event is all in aid of Andy’s Man Club: a peer to peer support group that helps break down the stigma surrounding men not being able to open up and talk about their struggles ♂️🧠❤️

Tickets for this incredible event are £15+ BF more on the door on the day

Run time is 3pm till 10pm with the chance to extend if theres still plenty of you lot wanting to party 🥳

THE END OF AN ERA - AND A LOST FUTURE

The Camel Club chapter is sadly coming to an end. WOW what a ride it has been. Unforgettable nights, fantastic customers and iconic moments along the way. But while weprepared to close, we were working in the background to try secure Huddersfield's future nightlife.

We just want to set the rumour mill straight as we have been asked so many times what will happen to the club. We had found someone to take over the club, not a sale, just someone to continue the lease and continue giving students and the good people of Huddersfield somewhere to dance, have fun and forget about their troubles on the dancefloor.

Unfortunately the rug has been pulled out from under these plans.

The Council, despite at first agreeing to this new tenancy, has thrown everything into uncertainty and blocked plans for this iconic venue to continue to be a nightclub. This venue has been a club for decades... you know it as Camel Club, your mums and dads will know it as the Pepperhouse, your Nan will know it as the Adega and before that I have been told it was agentleman's club. Maybe its time for a change??? Or maybe an institution like this should be saved for future generations???

I’m not here to dog the Council. They have helped us stay open through these difficult times and I cannot thank them enough for that. They have their motivations and I can’t speak for them but I do know that the Council is here to provide services we (the people) want. We pay for the Council to make decisions on our behalf and they will listen if enough people are asking.

Huddersfield... you are about to lose your last and only dedicated nightclub.Late-night bars we have....but this was the last-standing club.

So if everyone who has watched our video of the last night (over 15 thousand of you now!) could please just post a comment below, that might go a long way to save our only nightclub. You don't have to berate the Council. You just need to convince them why Huddersfield shouldn't lose its last and only nightclub.

I’m sympathetic to the Council’s decision as nightlife has struggled since Covid and we justcouldn't turn things back around financially and we all know nightlife has taken a downturn, but that doesn't mean it won’t bounce back. A fresh start with new owners and some money to back them might just work. By taking away our last nightclub the nail really is being hammered into the coffin.

The impact is real and immediate...

The staff who previously had job retention are now out of work. Local businesses that benefit from our extra footfall will be affected. With less on offer, fewer people will be drawn to the town. The list goes on... This is a serious blow to the creative and cultural fabric of the area.

Well it’s been just over a week since we announced we were closing and the response has been truly phenomenal. Thank you so much for all your kind messages and words of support, it really means a lot to know how many lives we have touched along the way! 🥹🥰☺️

Our favourite comment was “Don’t cry cos it’s over, smile cos it happened” and we are looking at things exactly like this. Although we’re definitely going to be crying on the last night. 😭

I/We have read every message (wowza there was a lot) and can’t thank you enough for sharingthe post and spreading the word. It really makes for a bitter sweet ending. WE ARE VERYMUCH LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR LAST NIGHT TO PARTY AT CAMEL TOGETHER! So with that we are busy planning and getting things sorted so we can open the whole club for you guys. Brick’n’ball room, top bar and of course the beds and on special request we might get the BALL POOL out again for one last splash! 💦⭐️

Huddersfield... Thank you so much for the last 20 years. It has been anabsolute pleasure and an incredibly crazy ride. This is the end of an era for usand the staff and I’m sure it will be for some of our customers too. ✌️🙏🥰

Camel Club will be closing it’s doors on Saturday 12th of July - open from 10pm until you stop dancing, for one final night of hedonistic ridiculousness and fun to celebrate our time here. We really hope you can join us on this special night!
We will remain open for our usual Friday and Saturday nights until then. 🩷❤️🧡💛💚💙🩵💜

Unfortunately the business has run its course and it’s time for pastures new. I/We/Camel would like to thank everyone who has ever been to our pink and purple rave cave. It’s been a passion and a pleasure to serve all our customers over the years. Jeez there has been so many of you! 🤘👏⭐️💥

For those who were around in the Afterparty days or should I say ‘Daze’, to our loyal Friday night rock crowd, the fantastic students of Huddersfield who rocked our dance floors on Wednesday nights and the people who remember Funday Mondays (still to date our proudest achievement getting people to come out on a Monday night with queues down to Nandos)...Huddersfield you have been brilliant! 🤌👌🙌

We've always been aware Camel is like Marmite, you either love it or you hate it and we thank you all cos even if you hated it there was always that mate who ended up dragging you there. 🤣 Whatever your thoughts on Camel Club We say thank you and we really mean that. 🥹

We are responsible for many hangovers, many hook ups and quite a few weddings over the years; missed days at work, being late for uni and more importantly a lot of fun and dancing. It’s been one massive confetti cannon full of fun! 🎈🎉🎈🎉

Keep supporting our town centre. Keep supporting the independent bars and clubs. They are the heartbeat of the town and I know things can bounce back but sadly it’s too late for us.

Last but not least, our biggest thank you has to go to our staff; ALL OF YOU past and present. Our Stars on the bars, managers, door staff and DJ's, there are hundreds of you now! We cannot thank you enough for all your hard work and loyalty and just immersing yourselves in Camel Club. 🥰 I hope you have all left with life long memories and life long friends. I’d also like to give a special mention to those who have been a part of our family and sadly are no longer with us. We will remember you all and can not thank you enough! Once a Camel always a Camel :-) ### 🐫
