Danse Macabre

Long time DM followers will know we've moved around a lot. The Duck was the eighth venue we've held our spooky wee party in over the past sixteen years, and I don't think any of us expected it to feel like home quite as immediately as it did. Sadly, with venues and creative art spaces shutting down across Glasgow and beyond, its end came too soon, and we will be moving to a new home.

Last night, however, was the perfect send off.

As we trudged home in the morning light with the chants of "Cleggie! Cleggie! Cleggie!" ringing in our ears, zines and tapes in hand, we can be proud that we were part of its nineteen-year history - from early DJ sets in 2012 to one final spin of Together In Electric Dreams last night.

Too many people to thank for all they've done, but extra special shout-outs to Duncan and Kay for making us sound perfect and making the room as smoky as possible, to James, Rob, and Lewis for welcoming us and being so very easy and fun to work with, and of course to the wonderful Cleggie and their squad for everything they've done to make us and thousands of others welcome over the years. It was a pleasure and a privilege to be one of the gang for two years.

TONIGHT! Our last ever set in the Flying Duck as part of LAST FLIGHT. We've been going to the Duck since 2009 and it's an honour to be asked to play their final night. DM on stage ~8pm, would be great to see as many of you as possible one last time.

Evening Spook Squad. You may well have seen, but if not: unless a buyer is found by the end of the month, The Flying Duck will be closing.

We are, of course, gutted. The past two years have been the best we've ever done, and you've made it our home. We're still doing our next party on the 23rd, and have been asked to DJ their closing night on Sunday 31st (echoes of Bonjour here).

We have arrangements in place so there will still be a further three Danse Macabre nights this year. Details to follow. Our long-term followers will be used to us having had to move venues every couple of years, we were hoping to break that tradition, but alas.

Still, we're hoping against hope that something can be done, and that the Duck will reopen. If it does, we will see what we can do to return there.

Our thoughts right now are with everyone there who has served our crowd pints, done the sound and security for us, and is facing redundancy.

We're having a q***r goth party in the Duck and YOU'RE invited! What's more, our friend is joining us to show us how a real italo DJ works their magic. Not to worry if you're along for the darker tunes, there'll still be plenty of post-punk postcards from paradise. Good vibes only, eyeliner optional but highly encouraged.

We are also taking donations in advance or on the night for a fundraiser for , a sober, trans-led, Palestine solidarity event happening during Pride in July. If you buy one or more of these donation "tickets", make sure you show your ACTUAL ticket QR on the door to make the entrance queue quicker, thank you :)
