Award-winning KIBOU Cheltenham was one of the first Japanese restaurants in the Cotswolds and still remains a firm favourite in Cheltenham. We started life as a small basement restaurant on Regent Street, and our reputation and the number of happy customers returning to enjoy our great food and atmosphere soon grew. So, in

2020 we moved to new, larger premises, and from there our adventure to bring KIBOU to a wider audience began. Step into KIBOU Cheltenham and feel whisked away to the eclectic streets of Tokyo. Dine under a network of ancient cherry blossom trees and soak up our colourful and vibrant take of Japan, with lavish murals and eye-catching Japanese projector animations. Discover our traditional horigotatsu sunken dining area, plush Japanese block print booths, open sushi kitchen and large and stylish cocktail bar. In fact, it does the opposite.
You'll find our Akashi-Tai Sake Tokubetsu Junmai, with its rich umami and pear notes, is best friends with pretty much all the sushi on our menu. Try it alongside our jo moriawase or wagyu truffle nigiri and you'll see why.

We won. Again!
Last Thursday, we were named Restaurant of the Year at the SoGlos Gloucestershire Lifestyle & Community Awards 2026, and we couldn’t be happier! 🎉
Cheltenham is where KIBOU began, so there is no award we're prouder of. And this is our third time winning. 2019, 2021, and now again in 2026.
This one belongs to our whole team, who give everything every single service. And to every guest who has made KIBOU their chosen Cheltenham restaurant and keeps coming back to see us.
We'll be talking about this one for a while.
