Well that was a pleasant evening, especially if you were sat out in the church grounds, sipping wine and chatting, while lovely music floated out to you from the hall. Inside the hall was sweaty, energetic and fun, with people dancing all night and not minding that it was hot hot hot.
Big thanks to Lloyd who worked the bar, we had to give him a Suburban Disco t-shirt as his own top was too hot. Big love and thanks as ever to Chris the woman on the door, and thanks also to Rachel for her Suburban Iced Tea cocktail creation. And thanks to everyone who put chairs and tables away at the end, and no-one mentioned the football score which meant we could get home and watch it ‘as live’.
The most important bit is how much did we raise for the charities? We made a profit on the night of £395, we will round that up to £400 and give £200 to Oasis, and £200 to Llamau. Thanks to everyone who bought ‘extra’ tickets, raffle tickets and who just chucked money into the pot, we would not have done it without you.
We will continue to do the raffle for charity, and next year we will organise a bigger and better charity night, and aim to double what we made last night.
The next disco is on Saturday August 29th, so 6 weeks away. Tickets will go on sale soon. I’m going back to sleep now, it’s too hot and I’m too tired.
