from the 2013 vaults today we bring u: Str8 Outta Mumbai by ~ one of the most elusive and secretive producers of the late noughties.

in 2007, Jai Paul wrote a song in under an hour and uploaded it to his MySpace. 3 years later “BTSTU” caused a ripple across the hipster blog scene so huge, that the effects included a viral dance routine and labels big and small fighting for a deal.

sadly, in 2013 his demo album was leaked on bandcamp illegally which led him to take an extended hiatus from music. in 2019, he returned and released that same leaked project and later went onto make his live performance debut at Coachella in 2023. his label XL Recordings, who he has worked with since 2011, have described him as some kind of “wizard” - “he’s going about things in the most Jai Paul way you could possibly go about things.”
