This week, Laurent Rospars has chosen something special:
2023 Loïc Mahé Savennières “Le Petit Moulin” Chenin Blanc, Loire Valley, France.

Growing up in the Loire Valley probably makes me a little biased about Chenin Blanc—but this grape would have to be the best food white to have with a cut lunch while watching your fishing line bob around in the little rivers feeding into the Loire.

Savennières is one of the Loire’s truly exceptional appellations, dedicated to the Chenin Blanc variety. And of them all, it’s arguably the greatest when it comes to producing powerful, dry white wines. Loïc Mahé knew that when he began building his domaine in 2000—from purchasing unplanted land and old vines to crafting each wine with meticulous care in his immaculate winery
