Our Sea of Hearts has come to life. ❤️🖤💛💙🤍💚

Over the past few weeks, children and families have created hearts and shared what reconciliation means to them. Through conversations, artwork, storytelling and reflection, we explored the importance of respect, connection, understanding and walking together.

Each heart represents a unique voice, hope, promise or reflection. Together, they form a beautiful Sea of Hearts, symbolising our commitment to honouring First Nations peoples, cultures and histories, building strong relationships, and creating a future where everyone belongs.

Thank you to all our families for contributing to this meaningful project. Seeing each heart come together reminds us that reconciliation is built collectively through listening, learning, caring and taking action, one step at a time.

Such a great article from Maggie Dent.

A powerful reminder of how much children benefit from clear, predictable routines and rituals. When children know what to expect, they feel safe, calm, and more able to engage and connect with others.

At kindy, we support this through our consistent daily rhythm, familiar transitions, and shared rituals that help children move confidently through their day.

On Monday we celebrated International Women’s Day with a lovely surprise from one of our kindy families. Thank you so much for the delicious cupcakes — the staff certainly enjoyed them!

International Women’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the amazing women in our lives — the mums, grandmas, aunties, educators, sisters and friends who nurture, guide and inspire the next generation.

We feel very grateful to be part of a community filled with strong, caring and supportive women who help make our kindergarten such a special place. And a cupcake or two definitely made the celebration even sweeter. 🧁💜

One of the quiet but important lessons children begin to learn in kindy is that not everyone will want to play the same game, be in the same group, or connect in the same way.

And that’s okay.

In a group of 3–5 year olds we see friendships forming, changing, and growing every day. Sometimes children find their people straight away. Other times it takes a little longer. Sometimes someone says “no thanks” to a game. Sometimes someone chooses a different friend.

These moments can feel big for little hearts.

At kindy we support children to understand that they don’t need everyone to like them. What matters most is learning to be kind, to keep trying, and to feel proud of who they are.

Our hope is that children leave us knowing something really important:

Their worth isn’t decided by who chooses to play with them that day.
It comes from being themselves, being kind, and finding the friends who truly enjoy being with them ✨

We’ve loved reading Where Is the Green Sheep? this year — the children know it by heart and still get excited finding that cheeky green sheep 🐑💚

This looks like such a fun way to build on a favourite story!

We would like to say a big thank you CleanCo Queensland for their generous donation of beautiful new books for our kindergarten.

There is something very special about a fresh stack of stories ready to be opened and some of them already have been. These some of these books are already sparking imagination, building language, support early literacy, and inviting many cosy group-time moments. We can’t wait to see the children exploring new characters, new ideas and new adventures together.

Your generosity makes a real difference in our learning community. Thank you for investing in young minds and joyful reading experiences. 📖📚🦄🧚🏼‍♂️.

Budding book worms at Cairns Community Kindergarten 📚🐛

At Cairns Community Kindy, young minds are discovering the magic of books, and we are so proud to be part of it.

CleanCo recently donated $1,000 worth of books to help spark imagination through stories and illustrations. A few of our team also dropped in for a read, and the kids were completely absorbed - proof that a good story goes a long way!

Moments like these show just how important local organisations are in helping communities grow and thrive.

That’s why we’re excited to open the first round of applications for CleanCo’s 2026 Community Futures Fund will be launching Monday.

What you need to know:

💰 Up to $5,000 available for eligible local community organisations
🌱 Supports initiatives that deliver positive community, economic and environmental outcomes
🤝 Open to not-for-profits, community groups, educational institutions, environmental organisations and more
📍 Location eligibility applies (see guidelines for details).

If your organisation has an idea that could make a positive difference locally, we’d love to hear from you.

Learn more, check eligibility and apply online from Monday 16 February at https://cleancoqueensland.com.au/community/futuresfund/.
