Beloved Local Institution to Close After 27 Years
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Stones Durbanville will be closing its doors at the end of this month.
After 27 years of dedicated service to the community of Durbanville and surrounds, our lease has been terminated by the landlord, Mowana Properties and PIC, the Government pension fund. Despite being a loyal, responsible tenant for nearly three decades without fault, and maintaining a strong track record throughout our tenancy, we have been asked to vacate the premises.
Stones Head Office engaged extensively with the landlord in an effort to preserve our location. Every possible avenue was explored, including offering to pay the full remainder of the lease upfront. Unfortunately, all proposals were declined, and no substantive reason was provided for the refusal.
This outcome is devastating not only for our team but also for the thousands of loyal patrons who have supported us over the past 27 years. Stones Durbanville has been more than just a venue — it has been a gathering place for friends, families, celebrations, and memories that span generations.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our incredibly loyal customers, dedicated staff, suppliers, and the broader community who have made this journey so meaningful. Your support has been the foundation of our success.
While this chapter is coming to a close, it is not the end of Stones in the Northern Suburbs. We are actively exploring alternative premises and remain committed to finding a new location where we can continue serving our valued community. Any leads or potential opportunities for suitable premises would be greatly appreciated.
We will keep our customers updated as developments unfold.
Thank you, Durbanville, for 27 unforgettable years.
