The Polynesian Pearl Diver La ora na! The Polynesian Pearl Diver is a retro Rum Tiki bar inspired by the French Polynesian Islands of the South Seas. Tamaa Maitai!

The Tiki movement was pioneered concurrently by two restaurateurs whose independent progression in Rum sparked a rivalry which would last the best part of a century. Don Beach and Trader Vic created 'Island' Libations of a forgotten cocktail era. In fear of borderline espionage and pilfering many of the recipes created by them were never actually recorded. ad Bartender to the next since the mid 1930's from when the Tiki movement was spawned, until now where the Tiki culture is stronger than ever. The 'Pearl' has an extensive cocktail offering which is ultimately Rum driven, anchored by cocktail creations whose closely guarded recipes have since been forgotten or lost to the grave with their original beachcomber creators. Drinks are always fruity, overly decorated with no sparing of Rum, delivered out of the hands of a consummate performing bartender who will be just as interested in the classic American Rock as you will be. Food is 'simple', mainly PuPu platters and finger boards. Located in the shadow of the Cape Town eye, the Pearl Diver is a relaxing deck bar with views of both the Mountain and the V&A Waterfront.

Tonight we Tiki!! Clear the decks and make sure there is enough space to flair, something will break, hearts, sweats, bottles, bones and fridge doors.... but it'll all be worth it to see Rudolf De Vos and his awesome sidekick Courtney Cara Lawson-Peck keep pace with the flair kings Pieter Sock Oosthuizen and Anil Sabharwal as they battle on the decks of the Pearl. 7pm to 9pm Winner takes all, loser pays for the fridge door repairs:))))) See you there, I'll be wearing my helmet.

So starting from next Sunday March the 4th, we will be having open flair sessions on the Deck of the flair. Like an open Mic night:) all budding flairbartenders are invites to come and flair behind the flair bar, put your track on and go wild. Flair something!!

Tiki Madness is Back!! Rolling totem poles, falling coconuts and a backyard brawl on the Deck of the Pearl! This battle will probably put the Pearl through irreparable damage which will smack the smiling face right off the Polynesian Head 'Easter'.

Grounds will shake, Suns will eclipse and taste buds will be decimated as we invite the bartending teams of Lucky Shaker from Durban and Sin+Tax from Joburg to stand off at 20 paces in a battle Royal Rhumble of drinks slinging where the battle tactics are Tiki cocktails and the ammunition is the original Cuban Rum - Havana Club.

See you at the Pearl on Tuesday the 30th to see what these amazing bartenders have in store for us and cast your vote for the best Rum slingers, or be cast away yourselves. Drinks will be going out from 7pm, make sure you get your hands on some! La Ora Na my people.... La Ora Na!
