Our Story
AGUA Night is a promotion company focused on expanding Cuban dance and music events. It was born out of a need in the Washington DC area for venues that catered to a growing community of Cuban dance and music enthusiasts.
AGUA was established in November 2013 by Alex Ritter as a free weekly, then bi-weekly, Cuban dance party. Originally on Wednesday nights at Cafe Citron, it has since moved and grown to include larger monthly events, concerts and collaborations with other dance/music groups, teachers, artists, companies and promoters. It has won numerous awards for best Latin event of the year in the DC area: 2015 & 2016 Latin Honors Awards, 2016 & 2017 DCBX Excellence Awards.
AGUA now hosts a regular monthly “AGUA Friday” event at Songbyrd Music house (every second Friday of the most). It is also working hard to bring Cuban bands to the area for live concerts and is collaborating with artists, groups, promoters and friends on larger events and fun projects.
