We have tentative permission from the powers that be to open early for the NCAA tournament on Saturday and Sunday. If there is enough interest I am willing to open early and close at the DC-mandated 10 p.m. Let us know about your weekend plans

It appears that the powers that be at Kenneth Nash American Legion Post 8 has decided to provide some food (pizza and chicken wings) for the NFL playoff games Sunday! We will be monitoring everyone’s temperature, collecting contact trace information and ensuring social distancing. Please join us.

01/22/2021

Kenneth Nash American Legion Post 8 will reopen at 3 p.m. Saturday at 25 percent capacity. The lounge will be open during our pandemic hours: from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday’s, Fridays and Saturdays. We will be open from noon until 8 p.m. on Sundays. All of this is subject to the mayor’s orders. Come join us.

Kenneth Nash American Legion Post 8, like all dine-in restaurants/bars in DC, has been closed until at least Jan. 15, 2021, by order of the mayor because of a spike in COVID-19 cases. Please keep an eye on this page for updates. We’ll be back with you as soon as we can.

Kenneth Nash American Legion Post 8 on Capitol Hill in DC has reopened.

09/13/2020

As American Legion Kenneth Nash Post 8 is closed we will not be hosting the annual NFL kickoff party this year. It feels odd not making bbq rub, acquiring and slow cooking, grilling and smoking beer can chicken, brisket, pulled pork and ribs, but so be it. I pledge to be back next year with my SAL fundraiser. It’s really crazy because I hosted this BBQ at my house for years before it moved to the Legion. None of us knows what lies ahead of us, but if everything is everything we’ll see you about this time next year!!

DC Mayor Browser has extended the COVID-19 state of emergency until October. What that means for reopening Kenneth Nash American Legion Post 8 is unclear. Please stay tuned.

05/29/2020

DC is about to allow restaurants, bars, and clubs to reopen. It’s been roughly two weeks with reported declining COVID-19 new infections. What exactly that means for Kenneth Nash American Legion Post 8 is not clear, but I’m hopeful. The city government will allow outdoor seating at bars and restaurants and inside seating with six feet, social distance spacing, and frequent sanitizing. We will post more as the phase in to the new normal escalates.

05/02/2020

The Post 8 Sons of the American Legion meeting and elections scheduled for May 5 have been postponed. We will meet after we get the all-clear from the powers that be.

Although we are closed there are some important and necessary changes being made to the facility. I hope you all will join us when Post 8 reopens.

04/06/2020

As most of you know, Kenneth Nash American Legion Post 8 is closed indefinitely because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be safe and take precautions. Will we overcome and we will see you after this thing abates!

Toiletry Drive On NOW for AFRH (Armed Forces Retirement Home)
AFRH collects travel-sized toiletries (shampoos, conditioners, soaps, etc) to give to residents in need.

Our Post's goal is 1,000 items by Veterans Day, Nov 11th (we've been collecting all year but need a final push!)

If you stop by Post 8 from now 'til Nov 11, please bring travel-sized toiletries to drop in the red, white & blue basket next to the door--Help us beat our goal!
