Club 1220 joins our community in honoring and remembering Dr. Kent L. Sack, a medical forerunner during the AIDS epidemic in Contra Costa County.

Dr. Sack passed away at his Pacheco home on June 15, 2026. He was 91.

At a time when HIV/AIDS patients were too often stigmatized, ignored, or left without support, Dr. Sack was one of the early providers of HIV care in the East Bay. He helped organize social service agencies for HIV patients, served two terms as chair of Bay Area Physicians for Human Rights, and supported East Bay nonprofits fighting for care, dignity, and survival.

Even if you didn’t know his name, his work helped shape the support our community has today.

Rest in power, Dr. Sack. Thank you for fighting for us. 🕊️
