November 24th is Carménère Day!

Carménère originated in Bordeaux but was on the verge of extinction due to the phylloxera infestation.

Luckily, some vines were brought to Chile prior to the infestation, but they were thought to be Merlot up until 1994.

Although it is still nearly extinct in France, it is now one of the most important grapes of Chile.

What better way to celebrate saving a plant from extinction than by enjoying a glass of Carménère!
