Nitro/Gen

Nitro/Gen NITRO/GEN was a monthly dance party in Tulsa, held the fourth Saturday of each month at Nitro Lounge, with 80s and 90s tracks spun by DJ Badger and guests.

NITRO:GEN is the biggest monthly retro dance party. Founded in 2016 by DJ Badger, the party occurs on the fourth Saturday night of every month at Nitro Lounge, just east of Peoria on 6th Street in the Pearl District. It is a 21+ event, with no smoking inside the venue. There is a $5.00 cover charge. Tracks generally include alternative/club tracks from the 80s and 90s, from 1980 up through 1995.

Examples of artists you might hear at any given Nitro:Gen night would be Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, Book of Love, the Cure, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, Siouxsie + the Banshees, Shriekback, the Smiths, Cetu Javu, the Eurythmics, Erasure, Ministry, Pet Shop Boys, and Nine Inch Nails. Ultra-rare remixes are often featured, and many of the tunes are mixed directly from real vinyl. Lights and lasers are supplied from Tulsa's Awesome Retro DJ Service.

Hello, everyone. DJ Badger here. It's funny that we keep getting "Likes" and Facebook keeps telling me to "Keep up the good work with Nitro/Gen," because I *ended* Nitro/Gen after the April 2016 installment. In fact, the April Nitro/Gen was the last public event at Nitro Lounge before Nitro Lounge shut down. I'm glad there's still support for the page, though!

For those who want to follow my forthcoming events, feel free to "Like" the DJ Badger page. If you're interested in hiring me for a retro party of your very own, check out Awesome Retro DJ Service - my 80s/90s-focused DJ company. Also, for those who just really loved the venue, it's now the Blackbird on Pearl... but they don't have many DJ events there anymore.

THANK YOU very much to everyone who supported Nitro/Gen while it was around, and thank you to the guest DJs with whom I was fortunate enough to perform - Sokmonkey, Vixx, TMJ, and Axis. It was a lot of fun, and I hope that everyone enjoyed it. I've got lots of fun ideas for 2017, so stay tuned!
