Artcation at The Plant We are a community-based art collective that welcomes new members of all ages to engage in art making and creative actions. Artcation is part of the Plant.

Artcation is a community-based art collective that welcomes new members of all ages. This summer we will open our doors to offer a free a summer program. Please contact us for more information. This collective is made up of volunteers. We are community members based at FSU, FAMU and in Tallahassee at large. We share a love of the arts and an interest in promoting creativity to support community en

gagement and social justice. The Plant is an all-inclusive creative space, where everyone is welcomed and empowered to organize, research, and encourage the free expression of others. The Plant is a not for profit venue and is operated by volunteers. Events held at The Plant are FREE and for ALL AGES.

We had a great time at the Art Show! Lots of art and lots of fun!!

We all had a great time at the Artcation's reception with parents, young artists, facilitators, new visitors, and neighbors. The artwork was displayed at The Plant and in the Art Alley. There are a few sculptures remaining, including a lady bug and worm in the rain garden.

Here a some progress pictures of our paper airplane installation... more to follow after today's session!

Last week (June 29 - 30) Artcation artists made paper airplanes, painted them and continued exploring with test flights in the Art Alley. The young Artcation artists will complete more experimenting with the paper airplanes this week.
Part 2: The paper airplanes, decorated by the students, will be used in a hanging installation against a white wall. The kids will watch the movement and use various mark-making methods to create what the flight movement looks like.

Pictures from the egg toss ! (June 29)

Continuing our experimentation with different materials, we created protective containers for our raw eggs and then tested them by tossing them off the roof. Some of the innovations included: parachutes, wings, and layered felt nests. 4 out of 6 eggs survived the toss! (June 29 - 30)
