Tempest and Teddy were a great match. He would sit across the bar drawing customers, presenting them with their own personal masterpiece. He was so prolific in Tempest we asked customers to bring in their pieces to share, to showcase his talent. I invite you once again to share your experiences, art, and stories here. Teddy will always hold a special spot in my heart, he was a huge supporter of my dream and my hobbies. I love you Teddy. Namaste!

Teddy Haggarty was a fixture on the Tacoma art scene as well as in Hollywood, where he worked as Alec Baldwin’s stand-in on numerous movies. Haggarty died Tuesday at St. Joseph Medical Center.

A year ago yesterday I closed my dream - Tempest Lounge. In that year I have realized another dream, living near the Ocean. I spent yesterday reflecting on Tempest, the friends I made, the music, the people, and all the events that came through my bar. I did this all while walking the beach and watching the birds, two things that bring me peace and happiness. I often think about that experience and all I learned from it. I am very proud of what I accomplished.

Moving here wasn't easy I've been extremely lucky to have the support of my family and friends without their help I wouldn't be where I am now. I love living in Mexico. Yesterday my neighbor, a local fisherman, brought me fresh lobster and fish cooked over their fire. It was fantastic!

Life is about taking chances, believing in yourself and what you can accomplish. I hope you all have had a wonderful, taking chances, adventure filled year.

Thank you again for helping this girl realize one dream. I'll keep dreaming and I who knows one day maybe our paths will cross again.

As I get ready to enter Tempest one last time I can’t help but think about how I got here. I wrote the business plan for Tempest over 8 years ago. The first paragraph of the plan reads:

Won’t you join me in a little creative visualization?...Imagine… you’re sitting in an intimate cocktail lounge surrounded by a lover, friends, and acquaintances. The décor is warm and relaxing, much like a neighborhood bar set in the 40’s or 50’s. Listen as the sultry lounge singer seduces you with tunes from a bygone era, and savor the guilty pleasure of a martini, cosmopolitan, scotch rocks…whatever your fancy. The cocktail will warm your spirit, as you laugh, throw your head back on the posh semi-circular booth and take in the lush ambiance of…….. Where am I, you ask??? Welcome to Tempest Lounge.

Tempest Lounge is closed.

I have decided to retire from the bar business.
Realizing a dream is never easy, I did and for that I am extremely grateful! Thank you all for your support these
past 7 years.
