If you’ve followed along, you know we’ve been very open about the highs and lows…designing this place from scratch, trying new ideas, constant pivots and also navigating some really hard moments. Halloween was a turning point for us, not because of extended hours, but because of the crowd that showed up and how that night felt inside our own walls. Coupled with an entire year of ongoing struggles to find and keep quality kitchen staff, it forced us to really stop and ask: What can we sustainably keep doing here?

After a lot of conversations and tears, we’ve decided it’s time to get back to our roots: Weddings & Events. Going forward, we will no longer be open as a bar/restaurant to the general public. Instead, this beautiful space will live on as a wedding and event venue by appointment and private booking only.

We’re incredibly proud of the Asian fusion chapter we created here. That menu came straight from our hearts and was a labor or love. There may be a bar-with-bites concept from us again someday, just in a different way and at a different time and location.

We will still host public pop-up events from time to time, but they’ll be ticketed events, because we want to make sure the people who attend are there to respect the space, the experience, and the effort that goes into creating it.

Because of one of the many challenges we faced early on a legal dispute over the business name we’re not able to operate the ballroom under The Mercantile name. So moving forward, this page will serve as a bookmark in time for this chapter and will be archived.

👉 Please follow us at The Alchemy Ballroom for all future updates, bookings, and events.
We’re working on a new website and freshening up the space to fully represent what it is now: a wedding and event venue only.

Thank you for being part of this chapter. Thank you for learning and growing with us this past year. I can’t say I’m going to miss operating a restaurant, but I am looking forward to getting back to doing what we’re good at: weddings and throwing really great parties🖤

We know this past year has been inconsistent. Some challenges we could control, some we couldn’t and we take responsibility for all of it. Our standard has always been to give you our best. Right now, that means pausing regular service while we refine our identity, build consistency, and create a bar program and guest experience worthy of this space and community.

We’re not closing but we are transforming. A pause isn’t the end it’s the reset we need to build something lasting, and intentional for our community.

In the meantime:
Events & private bookings continue
Blackout Wednesday is ON
Our Christmas party is ON
NYE party is happening and it’s going to be magical and last but not least the fan favorite Y2K is ON

Thank you, truly, for sticking with us while we evolve. And to those who have chosen kindness and support your words mean more than we can express.

We can’t wait to come back stronger🖤

BIG news, Sterling!! 🎉 The ordinance amendment PASSED we can now stay open until 3 A.M! We fought for this change because downtown needs more life, more music, and more late-night energy ✨Huge thank you to the council + everyone who supported extending hours for small businesses like ours. Let’s keep building something incredible together💪

We’ve had people ask if we’re closed for renovations …nope! The wall is out, the mess is gone, and we’re already painting. (Drapes are still on the way, but we’re open without them)

This week we’re quietly (but not so quietly) launching our new menu after our building ghost decided to open the freezer and wipe us out 👻 So you’ll see lots of new goodies, infused specials, and live entertainment Saturday night with our late night menu running until midnight.

October starts now ,stay tuned for our drink menu tomorrow, you won’t want to miss it😍🖤
