The last Excess!

07/17/2017

Since moving to our current venue in December, our scheduling has been... less than consistent. It takes a little while to work out the "kinks" with a new space.

However, we've reached an arrangement with the venue ownership. Excess will be on hiatus for the rest of the summer and will come back in the fall.

Starting in September, our new timeslot will be on the 3rd Friday of every month. We have been assured that, barring extreme circumstances, the venue will do it's best to maintain the new schedule consistently.

Thus, the next EXCESS will be on Friday, September 15th.

We hope this change serves to provide some beneficial stability and scheduling predictability for our guests and community.

There will be no EXCESS this weekend. We're down for the month of January to finish resolving some permitting issues with the city of Somerville.

We'll be back to our 2nd Saturday time slot with our next event on Saturday, February 11th.

To our Excess family,

Over the past seven years, Excess has grown, evolved, and adapted to the changing state of nightlife in Boston. We have opened new events and moved venues when the need has arisen. Through all of this we have striven to provide the best environment for our community. The time has come for another change.

Excess has the opportunity to make a move we have often been asked about and one we wanted to make for a long time. After a lot of deliberation and hard work, Excess will be moving to Saturdays.

This change was not undertaken lightly, but we feel that this move will allow even more members of our community to attend our events and to grow as a culture. Since moving to a Saturday will require more work from our staff, we have decided to meld our existing events into one flagship presentation. Going forward we will continue to use the Excess name, but we will be incorporating the musical influences of Allure.

Our move to Saturday will also include a change of venue. We have found a venue that fits the needs of our events, but also shares our sense of community and safety concerns. Our new home will be the Sabur Lounge in Somerville.

With this move of date and location, Allure on October 26th was our last presentation at the Garage Lounge. We look forward to seeing you all when we open, on the second Saturday of every month at our new home, Sabur Lounge & Restaurant in Teele Square, Somerville on Saturday, December 10th.

Thank you all for your support in getting us to this point. We are excited to create more wonderful events to celebrate with you in the years to come.

With love,

- Excess Boston.

Hello Everyone,

We've just been contacted with some unfortunate news. Due to a last minute licensing issue with the venue, Garage will not be opening tonight. Given the winteriness making it unfeasible to host Excess outdoors, F**k Snow is CANCELED.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience to your evening planning - we know last minute notifications are not ideal. Stay tuned for details about our next event, and we will see you soon. Stay warm out there.

Hello everyone,

As the next step in our work towards a safer, more respectful community, we've decided on the following in the interest of transparency.

Every confirmed or suspected drug-related safety incident that has been reported directly to Kas or myself since our move to the new venue in October of 2014 has been recorded on the google document linked below:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ebu7P9ANgSVPOdn5FISjGfuTiHD4WXwsbQFTHhDfeSU/edit?usp=sharing

This information will continue to be updated if any more incidents, past or future, are brought to our attention. As stated in recent discussion, our policy going forward is that the survivor's experience is the most important factor. No evidence is required or expected to support an individual's concern. However, it would be irresponsible of us not to advise you to please SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION if you think you may have been exposed to unexpected drugs, or if you're dizzy, if you black out, or feel unable to control your actions.

Please check out the link above if you would like the statistics, and let me know if you believe an incident has been left out. It will be posted in the Excess Boston group and "like" page descriptions for easy future access.

Thank you for being a part of this important discussion. I hope you all have safe and enjoyable New Year's revelries, and I will see you in a few weeks at Excess: F**k Snow!
