S*xual Attraction is a mechanism of arousal, but it is not the ONLY mechanism of arousal.

Asexual people have other ways to access arousal, but it may not be pointed at another person and they may or may not want to share it with another person. The spectrum of Asexuality is vast.

The Pathologization of S*xual "Excesses"

The Excesses of "too little" or "too much"

Throughout history, Western Science has attempted to boost sexual appetite or suppress it depending on where the patient appeared out of balance with the assumed "normal" sexual appetite.

But the assumption of what is a "normal" sexual appetite varies widely depending on perceived gender, ethnicity, orientation, physical ability, size, or other personal attributes.

Have you been hypersexualized and fetishized, or have you been desexualized and dismissed?

Stop saying "asexual"
when you mean
"non-sexual" or "desexualized"

Asexuality is a S*xual Orientation
where the person experiences
little to no sexual attraction to others.

The term “asexual” has historically been used to desexualize a variety of marginalized groups which is harmful to those groups as well as Asexual people.

There is a very big difference between placing a label on someone vs claiming it as an identity.

Asexual people who are also part of groups that have had the term “asexual” forced upon them may face the added stigma of being seen as fulfilling a stereotype.
