We don’t say it enough, but thank you.

This bar has survived because of our patrons, friends, chosen family and so many entertainers who’ve danced down our runway. You are what makes this little bar special.

We are so thrilled to celebrate this Pride Month with you, especially as we move closer to July — our 75th anniversary. 🥹 Yes, next month we are celebrating 75 years open! It’s surreal knowing so much q***r history exists right here, and still so much we’ll never know. This bar has been a fundamental cornerstone in Shreveport and Louisiana’s history for decades.

There’s some exciting things planned for July, and we plan to celebrate our birthday all month long. Seventy five years is a long time, after all.

We hope you choose to spend not just Pride Month with us, but all the months out of the year. We love you, and we thank you.

Sounds like a party worth attending! 🤬 Who’s down to clown?

Thank you PACE: LGBTQ Advocacy of NW Louisiana for bringing this to our attention.

Last year, Paige Hoffpauir put up this billboard at the corner of Southern Loop and Norris Ferry. She also went before the Caddo Parish Commission to speak against Commissioner Victor Thomas’s resolution recognizing Pride Month. There was a strong presence from our community at the CPC vote, and Hoffpauir failed to prevent the resolution from passing. But she’s at it again this year.

Monday, she spoke at the work session of the Caddo Parish Commission to denounce Thomas’s 2026 Special Resolution Recognizing Pride Month, as the CPC has done for years, using extremely vitriolic language to demonize LGBTQ+ people.

She said:

“Where did gay pride month come from? Did it come from heaven? Or did it come from fallen men? Did it come from a state that does not produce children, that causes sickness? It says it is a sin against our own bodies when we have sexual immorality. I ask you what’s next? Are you going to declare that there is going to be a month that’s okay for adultery? Is there going to be a month that you are going to declare it’s okay for stealing? Would it be okay for you to say ‘Hey, this month we’re going to say murder is okay?”

Despite this, the Commissioners did the right thing and advanced the agenda item.

But it would be helpful if some people could show up at the 3:30 pm Commission meeting this Thursday, June 18, to change the narrative. If you wish to speak you have to fill out a comment card before the meeting and give to the Commission Chair or Clerk. Comments are limited to 3 minutes.

We don’t want to overwhelm the Commission with too many comments but strong attendance in support would be helpful. Even if you don’t speak, your attendance is helpful.
If you can attend and possibly speak:

Caddo Parish Commission Meeting
3:30 pm, Thursday, June 18, 2026
Council/Commission Chamber, Government Plaza
505 Travis St.
Shreveport, LA 71101

As always, any comments should be civil, respectful, and best of all, rational!

Richmond "Jimmie" Barthé (1909-1989) was an African-American sculptor and a key figure in the Harlem Renaissance in the 1930s. Barthé was also a gay man who expressed his orientation throughout his body of work.
Much of his art depicted African-American men in various poses, often n**e. Today, his work seems far less controversial and confrontational, but in a racially divided and moralist America, Barthé’s work stood out. Although he was an outsider in many ways, Barthé found much success and fame.
Richmond Barthé was not a part of the white art world, and his sexuality kept him somewhat distanced from other artists of the Harlem Renaissance. His love life was a series of short affairs that never developed further.
