Sad News About the Palace...
An Open Letter to Our Supporters, Fans, Patrons, Friends, and Family: It is with a lot of deep emotion that I write this on behalf of The Palace Theater & Art Bar.

After a little over seven years of creating art, bringing others entertainment through music, burlesque, drag show performances, cabaret, radio shows, plays, open mics, pop up artist’s displays, and several different life drawing offerings, we will no longer be part of the Georgetown community. We took a lot of pride in what we brought to the stage – literally brought to the stage. The artists that performed were consistently amazing. Consistently. Brave souls who brought their “A” game. We were honored every day/night they graced us with their talent. The Palace was a place where artists were more than welcomed; they were encouraged to bring out their creativity and showcase their unique talents to their audience. I knew that every person who came in to the bar was an artist in their own right. That they had more creativity within them than they realized. We were there to help coax out the muse that was sleeping within them, or reintroduce that spirit of creation to those who had become lost in a world filled with disruptive and destructive distraction. Too much information – negative information – is thrown at us on a daily basis. More often than not, it’s more than we can handle or cope with. The Palace was to serve as a haven to escape from the negativity. Hopefully it fulfilled its purpose with some of you to a degree. We’d all like to hope that our efforts made a difference in at least a few of the lives that came through our doors.

Sadly, due to the pandemic, and the lack of small business assistance available to micro-businesses like ours, we are forced to close our doors. Because of this, the entity known as Palace Theater & Art Bar will cease to be after this month. We are sorry – but we can’t continue.

Peace and love to you all – THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH to all of you who have been with us and given of your time and talent to make Palace Theater & Art Bar a destination in Georgetown. You made a difference.

Be creative, stay safe, keep fighting – continue to be amazing – continue to support the arts and especially the artist!!

With much love and respect –

Carlos Paradinha, Jr.

Palace Theater & Art Bar

It is with frustrated heart and sadness in my steps that I have to close the book on The Palace Theater and Art Bar.This we my experiment to bring a bunch of arts that I enjoy to a different part of town.

To all my fans, producers and family that helped this dream become a reality. Thank you! I proved that we could book and amazing collection of shows and community meetings together in one place.

To my new producers…See?! You can do it and You can make it happen! People love your creativity! Don’t stop. This virus will not kill our art, keep it alive! We will find a new space in the future. I will come knocking.

To my Bacon Strip Family, thank you all for all of your years of support we go into storage for a while until we find a new space to host us. Till then, look for online options for us and we will see you again soon.

To my Jazz Open Mic Families…wow! Jazz artists and all my live music people. You guys are a wonderful group of folks I will treasure the nights we had and the art we made.

To my family of erotic arts and burlesque. So wonderful working with all of you we will see you again and where ever we land, I hope we get to work together soon.

To my fellow drag producers. I’m so proud of all the shows you did and really showed that you could shine and create amazing events. This is just a pause until this virus is handled enough that we can do big shows again. We will have to do art in a new space but it will be provided. I miss you all more than you know.

To our amazing staff, Mark, Nemo, Tori, Fraya, Carlos and Rob, thank you so much for all the support you gave this scrappy weird idea for a bar.

The universe does not what me specifically out doing big events this year, First with the Gambling Commission and now Covid, so I will respect that. I get it. I can do things from the sideline. Look for me on-line and of course sign up for my newsletter. The Palace Theater and Art Bar might be closing but all of us are alive and will return to create again.

I love and miss you all.

The Palace Theater and Art Bar

I would like to thank everyone who was involved with The Palace Theatre & Art Bar. The last two years have been wonderful and it was a joy to serve the many communities and bringing people together. It saddens me deeply that we can not continue. Like Carlos stated we received no help locally or federally. With the restrictions that will be put on the bar we would not last long.

I truly appreciate all of your support you gave our little bar. Be safe and we will miss you all.

I'm reading How acquisitions could affect the mezcal category via the The Spirits Business app

Big businesses are buying up independent mezcal producers. But will they be able to leverage their investments, and is there enough raw material to support their plans?
