Being busy at Lazy Susan
Fans of the signature Korean-style fried chicken wings, spicy pork tacos and bulgogi fries that made Interbay’s Citizen Six, closed in June of this year, a local favorite will be happy to hear that they all find a home on Lazy Susan’s new menu. The unique menu draws on traditional elements from American-style Mexican and Korean cuisines to provide a delicious, elevated-comfort-food dining experience. Lazy Susan is not open for lunch, but rather provides new dinner menu updates and focuses on a crafty happy hour & cocktail service, with two boozy slushie machines up its sleeve to keep things feeling fresh and tropical even through the rainy months. A weekend brunch service addition is coming soon.
The crave-worthy combination of Korean and Mexican comes straight from Olmos herself. “My dad is of Mexican descent, and when my mom first moved to the US from Korea, she spent a year living with my dad’s family, learning his family cooking,” says Olmos. Growing up, items like kimchi and tortillas were never at odds on the same table.
Lazy Susan is in the space formerly occupied by Crow Restaurant & Bar, whose owners approached Olmos for an easy transition into the spot after deciding to focus on other endeavors and family. “They knew I was ready for a bigger space, and it feels great to be able to ‘come home’ to this location, where I had looked but opted for a smaller space when opening Citizen Café in 2004, when the timing and pieces are all fitting together perfectly,” says Olmos.
