MAY WINE SOCIETY PICKS ARE HERE 🌍🍷
This month’s lineup travels from the sun-drenched heel of Italy to the rugged hills of Spain and the ancient vineyards of Lebanon. Three bottles. Three stories. No passport required.
HIDDEN GEMS🇮🇹 Schola Sarmenti Vespre Fiano 2024 | Italy
Bright, zippy, and drinkable, this southern Italian white bursts with notes of citrus blossom, pear, white peach, and a whisper of Mediterranean herbs. Crisp acidity keeps everything refreshing, like a seaside breeze through an open window.
Fun fact: Fiano is one of Italy’s oldest native grape varieties, once so prized in Roman times that it was called “Vitis Apiana” because bees were irresistibly drawn to its sweet aromas. Bee-approved since antiquity. 🐝
🇪🇸PetitOna Red 2024 | Spain
Juicy red berries, crushed violets, soft spice, and enough earthiness to make you feel like you’re sipping wine in a tiny village in Catalonia. Fresh, lively, and dangerously easy to pour “just one more” glass of.
Fun fact: PetitOna is crafted with a focus on minimal intervention winemaking, letting the grapes speak for themselves instead of dressing them up in heavy oak or manipulation. Think flamenco guitar instead of stadium pyrotechnics. 💃
🇱🇧 CURIOSITY SEEKER SELECTIONLes Vignes du Marje Vin Rouge 2016 | Lebanon
This bottle is pure old-world intrigue. Deep notes of black cherry, dried fig, baking spice, to***co, and earthy herbs unfold slowly with each sip. Elegant, savory, and beautifully mature.
Fun fact: Lebanon is one of the oldest wine-producing regions on Earth, with winemaking traditions dating back over 5,000 years. The Phoenicians carried wine culture across the Mediterranean long before wine bars existed. Ancient grape energy in a glass.🏺
