Dive Bar Football League Update:

COACH TERESA DECLARES THE PROBLEM SOLVED AFTER MEMORIES ROUTS ANCHORAGE, 34–13

SARASOTA, FL | DBFL POSTGAME PRESS CONFERENCE

Two consecutive losses. A bye week filled with soul-searching. Questions about her coaching decisions, her playbook, and the future of Team Memories.

On Sunday, Coach Teresa answered those questions with a 34–13 victory over the Anchorage Iceholes at Memories Stadium.

And at Monday’s press conference, she appeared entirely satisfied with the explanation.

“We were trying to do too much,” Teresa told reporters. “I was trying to control everything. We simplified things, let the players play football, and look what happened.”

The victory improved Team Memories to 3–2 and ended a two-game losing streak that had raised uncomfortable questions about the direction of the franchise.

REPORTER: “Coach, what was the biggest difference between yesterday’s performance and the losses to Provo and Dayton?”

TERESA: “I stopped making everything so complicated. These guys know how to play football. I just needed to let them.”

REPORTER: “Anchorage seemed to struggle quite a bit with the Sarasota humidity. How much did that contribute to the result?”

TERESA: “Well, they knew where Sarasota was when they got on the plane.”

REPORTER: “But several of their players appeared to be having real difficulty with the conditions.”

TERESA: “We played in the same weather they did.”

REPORTER: “Coach, Anchorage is from Alaska.”

TERESA: “Yes. I know where Alaska is.”

There was a brief silence.

REPORTER: “So you’re confident the changes you made during the bye week were responsible for the turnaround?”

TERESA: “We lost two games. I changed some things. We won by 21 points. I’m not sure what else you want me to tell you.”

Teresa smiled.

TERESA: “Next question.”

The victory certainly demonstrated improvement. Memories played with greater confidence, executed a simpler game plan, and avoided the hesitation that had plagued the team in previous weeks.

It also came against a visiting team whose players appeared considerably more comfortable with subzero temperatures than with a Sunday afternoon in Sarasota.

Whether Teresa has discovered the formula for sustained success remains an open question.

For Teresa, however, the matter appears settled.

Next Sunday, Team Memories travels to Oregon to face the Portland Consensus.

The weather is expected to be considerably less helpful.

Elsewhere in Sunday’s action, Chicago defeated Dayton 20–13, Provo overwhelmed Tombstone 41–13, and Bardstown edged Washington 35–31.

Team Memories now stands at 3–2, with its first road test since the bye week approaching.

Dive Bar Football League Update: ICEHOLES ARRIVE IN SARASOTA. COACH TERESA TURNS UP THE HEAT 🔥

It’s October, and across much of America the leaves are changing, jackets are coming out of closets, and football weather has arrived.

In Anchorage, Alaska, they’re already preparing for winter.

In Sarasota, Florida, we’re still waiting for summer to end, even with all the rain we’re having.

Our endless summer presents a rather interesting problem for today’s visitors to Memories Stadium.

The Anchorage Iceholes are here.

The Iceholes are accustomed to playing football in conditions that would send most sensible people looking for a fireplace. Cold weather is part of their identity. Ice is practically their brand.

Unfortunately, they’ve traveled several thousand miles to a place where ice generally survives only in a cocktail glass even if it’s only in the mid-80s today.

Coach Teresa, meanwhile, seems entirely unconcerned.

Following two consecutive losses and a much-needed bye week, Teresa has spent considerable time reconsidering her approach to coaching. She’s talked about trusting her players, allowing them to react rather than overthink, and rediscovering the confidence that carried Team Memories to its 2–0 start.

Whether those lessons translate into a victory remains to be seen.

But one thing is certain: Teresa knows how to handle Sarasota weather, come rain or shine.

The Iceholes are about to discover that October means something very different down here.

Kickoff is today at Memories Stadium. Team Memories enters at 2–2, looking to end its two-game losing streak. The Ice Holes are 3–1.
