Tomorrow night, the Tenderloin Water Athletic Team (T.W.A.T.) dries off and takes over our walls with I LEARNED KARATE FROM THE STREETS, a group show from the Bay’s most questionable swim team.
Founded in 2002 by artist and professor Christopher Jernberg (“The Navigator”) as a way to push art students out of their comfort zones and into the freezing Bay after dark, T.W.A.T. has grown into a crew of Tenderloin artists and locals who take cold water seriously and almost nothing else. You’ll find them every Sunday at Aquatic Park, just left of the Dolphin Club, surrounded by French food, cheap b**r, good wh***ey and a haze of smoke. True Champions of the Bay. 🏆
