The April 1st Strangelove will be the final Strangelove at Cat Club. This is not a joke.
I'd like to thank all of the people who have supported Strangelove throughout its 17-year run. Strangelove was unlike any other event in San Francisco - less a "goth club", and more a fun club that happened to play goth music. We've done a lot of wild themes, like Undead Wedding, Germany Calling, Sacrilege, Vinyl Night, and Star Wars Night, and you all went along for the ride. We also raised money for some important organizations, like the Asylum Seekers Advocacy Group, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and various Bay Area food banks. It has been my absolute pleasure getting to play music for you, to dance with you, to spend time with you. Thank you all so much.
Strangelove isn't ending at Cat Club because it ran its course. Strangelove is ending because the haters have won - lies, cruelty, and bandwagoning, disguised as social justice, orchestrated by people who feel justified in trying their hardest to destroy a human being, unwilling to consider that their information may not be accurate. When we were working together to raise money for victims or to support our scene's most vulnerable people, I saw the best that San Francisco's goth scene had to offer. These last few years, I have seen the worst of it. It breaks my heart.
Strangelove isn't COMPLETELY going away. I will continue to do Strangelove at http://twitch.tv/tomasdiablo on first Fridays as a 1-man show, as I did during the months that the venues were shut down.
I ask that those folks on Twitch... those... particular individuals from our local scene who have gotten me kicked off raid trains, burned my bridges with promoters, gotten DJs and viewers that supported me to immediately block/ban me everywhere... I ask: Can you just stop and let me live my life? What do I have to do to get you to stop? Do you want me to apologize or take ownership of something I've done? If that's the case, can you finally tell me what this information is that made you go all batsh*t on me?
Anyways, fates permitting, you will still be able to join Strangelove from the comfort of your home every first Friday on Twitch. I actually throw an online party EVERY Friday night, plus "Darkwave Wednesdays" each week from 1PM-5PM, and "Lush Life" (Jazz/Soul/Blues Brunch) on Sunday mornings from 11AM-3PM.
I know a lot of you have felt isolated over the last few years. Due to the hostility shown to me (+ COVID, of course), I don't feel comfortable going out to events anymore. I am literally isolated, which is a bummer, because I miss being with so many of you - hugs and smiles and dancing and all the things that make life worth living. This coming Strangelove is likely the last time I'll be out, with the exception of the occasional guest spot, so please come out to say hello and goodbye. And after this Friday, PLEASE check in on me at one of my Twitch events. Just knowing that you're dancing with me from afar will help keep me alive.
Thank you for the joy, the love, and the support over seventeen fantastic years...
